This is my first new thread so be patient. . .

I have a 2017 Sport, and my question is, how can I leave my truck running and lock it from the outside ? I take my Dog with me almost every time I have to go on a short trip. Id like to be able to leave the truck running with the AC on but if I walk away with the transmitter it bees at me and wont lock the doors.

    Love the forums,

    Thanks
    Rob

Remove the metal key from the remote and use it to lock the door, with the remote staying in the truck, out of sight.

Don't have to leave the fob in the truck either. Just ignore the beep and use the hidden key as mentioned above. Note that the key only works one way so if it doesn't lock, turn it and try again.

Thanks for posting this thread, my lab goes everywhere with me as well and I would love to know how to do the same. Are aftermarket car starters available for the push button? What do their prices range?

I would think they are available for push start. Check with your local accessory place. The Toyota remote start sucks. It shuts the engine off when you open the door, so you have to start it again. At least it does for other Toyota models.

Thanks so much for the information guys . . . Never thought of the metal Key

One of my friends has a 2016 off road and wanted to get the OEM remote starter, he even paid for it when he bought the truck so it would be covered under the warranty. its been 7 months and its still not available so I'm told he is getting refund . . . .

If Toyota made one id buy it for sure. it would be nice if u could start it from your phone like Chevrolet and Dodge allow u to . . .

My 2009 Nissan Murano LE has a push-button start. I was told that an aftermarket remote start was not a possibility because the car detects the presence of the fob and the car is able to start. Without a key turning the engine on and just pushing a button anyone can start it. Another car I had required a key to be hidden inside the dash since that car had a chip in the key but I still needed a second key to turn the ignition to the on position.

Toyota doesn't make it, they're just putting a sticker on an existing product.

You can get an aftermarket remote start with mobile control for far less than "Toyota" would charge for it.

    Wouldn't Toyota still need to program it ? I only want 1 fob not 2 . .

I dunno how the third genisms all work together and what kind of nanny systems are in place, but aftermarket remote start (if it will work with the vehicle) are far cheaper than OEM branded.

    Pretty stock for now
Those days are long gone, you can easily do a remote start with a push button ignition now a days. You can buy a $100 Fortin remote start for this truck and install it yourself.
