Does anyone know if the one from crutchfield is the textured one or not?

bestkits repackages scorche kits, they actually say schorche right on the black plastic mounts. I have heard those ones are good too, just as long as it is the textured one you should be happy. glad to c you found one.

The one I used is a Metra and can be used as a single or double din:

It's not a very good picture, but the kit is textured and matches the rest of the interior.

metra kit has the dimples the Sosche kit does not. I hear the metra kit is better quality than the sosche kit regardless of the dimples. I'm trashing my Sosche and getting a metra kit in a few weeks.

scorche makes one with the dimples as well, also it has the notched out grooves along the top like the stock deck, I have the metra and have no problems with it tho.

Just to make it clear, here's the Scorche kit for our tacomas:

Note it is NOT textured but in fact has the same color and smoothness as the material around our vents do. It comes with an install kit too, pretty handy. I prefer this one; i believe it matches the interior better than stock. here's how it looks installed:

and here is the Metra kit for the tacomas:

It has texture just like the original stereo and just like the temp cluster below it. The kit altogether felt cheaper, so i switched to the Scorche kit personally.

to each his own I was the other way around, originally had the scorche and switched to the metra. Three things I liked better about the metra.

    1. size and texture - the scorche did not seem to be the same size as the stock deck, you can see what I mean in the picture kinda hard to understand tho.
    metra_792fc84c8061896821c632efc41e1e7ec3afc93f.jpg

    2. It came with its own clips so you dont have to take them off of the stock deck

    3. my face plate would get snagged on the scorche when I would open it to put in a disc
