A/C Light Blinking

So my A/C stopped blowing cold and the A/C light started Blinking.
I checked the relay it's good. I checked the freon level it's good. I pulled the filter and checked it its also good. I ran a jumper cable on the pressure switch and it's good.
The clutch free turns by hand. I made sure all the wires were tight on the compressor as well. Any advice would be appreciated. I really don't want it to be the compressor.

So i took it to a local shop and they say the compressor is bad. They want 1078.00 to fix ot. Im going to do this my self anyone know the best place to buy the entire kit to change the compressor out would be? I found this one

My only concern is it only has one review and its a 1 star but his reason sounds a bit off to me

 

How much more is the OE compressor? Or find one out of a junkyard

 

Also the OE is $337

 

I'm no expert but I'd imagine you'd have to perform a complete flush and then recharge once the new compressor is on. Other than that I think it's pretty much bolt off old, bolt on new

 

If the price is that similar I'd get OEM over aftermarket any day. Especially on components like this.

 

See someone told me (the start of many horrible stories) I had to change the dryer , serpentine belt, and, one guy even said the condenser as well.

 

Well I'm no mechanic but I'm going into Toyota later this week for my 10,000 mile service, I have a good relationship with the mechanics there. I can ask if you'd like.

A new accumulator will be required, likely purchased at the same time and place, if you want the warranty on a new compressor.

Its also correct practice anytime the system is open to atmosphere for any component change.

 

Whoever it was that told you you needed to change pretty much everything was correct and that does include the condenser. The condenser will not flush well. I used to work at an auto AC repair shop. To do it right, it's going to cost you. I haven't looked at my '15 but I think the Tacoma has a Nippondenso compressor. Stay OEM and do not go aftermarket on the compressor. You'll thank me later.

 

Tacoma has a thermal expansion valve (TXV), not an orifice tube. There is no accumulator. There is a 'sort of' receiver drier built into the condenser. If I'm not mistaken.

OP, if you are sure the compressor is toast, it needs removed and the oil drained to check for metal junk. There is also a strainer just before the TXV that should be checked for metal junk. If there is any junk, the system needs flushed, the condenser needs replaced, and the installer needs to fill up with the proper oil amount in the proper components.

This job, done properly, isn't really for the shadetree mechanic.

I am having a similar problem, but haven't read an article with someone having this issue...

My AC died while on my cross country road trip as soon as I hit the desert on full blast, I heard a terrible squeal from the engine and then the AC light started blinking and the system blew hot air. I shut off the AC and fan system. I tried to turn just the fan on without the AC system on and it still made the squealing noise.

From what I have read about people hearing the squeal, they only hear it when they turn the AC system on. I hear it whenever I try to turn the fan on period, means no heat or defroster either.

I drove cross country this way and put another 4k + miles on it, brought it to a dealer in Seattle and they quoted me $2500 and said I need a new compressor and condenser. They said the compressor seized.

I am wondering if my compressor seized but the pully still spun, so no damage was being done to the belt on the road trip home if it could just be the clutch?
