It's super shitty. Not fun at all. Once the rivets are ground off you get to bang them out.

I used a cold chisel with a pointed tip and a BFH

If anybody want to drop by and heckle my feeble attempts at swinging a BFH, the show is scheduled for this weekend.

Agree with @Pcyc. It's terrible. I can't even remember exactly how each came out since they were all different. At home, I ground them flush, drilled a pilot, then used a larger bit, which didn't really work. The hole was bigger than the pin punch. Some popped out right away with a pin punch. Used a step bit and vise grips on one or two. At mod day, we ground them flat with a flap disc, drilled 1/4 pilot holes, and used a pin punch. Some wouldn't go and we drilled them out with a 1/2" step bit. Not the 3/4" since you can't get it all the way in there. Grabbed the inside part with vice grips and pulled the rest out.

The method on that illustration only addresses removing the head. That was the easiest part.

If I had to do it again, I would:

1.) Grind the head flat with a flap disc.
2.) Center punch and drill a 1/4 pilot hole.
3.) Use a pin punch & sledge and hopefully they will pop out.
4.) If they don't, drill the rivet out with a 1/2" step bit, or really sharp 7/16" bit. May need to grab the back of the rivet with vice grips or channel locks and wriggle them out.
5.) Assuming the can mount uses 1/2" hardware, enlarge the hole to 1/2".

Good luck and congrats on the bumps!

Going to. Haven't even got the parts yet. Just trying to make sure I have all the right tools on hand before the garage cussing commences.
