Cell Phone Mount

Where do you folks mount your cell phones?

Ive tried windshield suction mount (shook too much), dash mount (too far away or in the way]
Vent mount (kinda hides behind steering wheel, I'm not a lefty , so can't use on left vent..)

 

I use the Tech Deck mount and run a RAM mount off that.

If you don't want to go that route, you could always get a RAM mount for your windshield, they are super sturdy. I use one for my Delorme Inreach, and off the tech deck I have my iPad mini for nav and my cell.

I've got a mount that fits in the cupholder nicely

 

I use a cheap eBay windshield mount, it shakes a lot if it's just suspended there but I like to let the phone sit on the dash as well and it doesn't shake at all there. I'll post a pic later

 

Just bought a RAM Mount last week. It's a windshield mount that I have mounted in the lower left hand corner. No shaking whatsoever. Very sturdy.

 

I use the niteize steelie ball mount. Holds the phone very securely above the 4WD switch.

 

Can't do the left side, not too good left handed...

The vent mount screws off. I cut a piece of 1"x1/8" brass shim stock ($4 at local hobby store), bent it to shape by hand over a metal edge, and covered it with black film tape. The magnetic mount went on via a screw through a 1/8" hole, and I mounted it to the dash with 3M extra heavy contact foam. Less than an hour all-in.

Mine is to the right of the wheel because I'm right-handed, but it could be on the left just as easily. Isn't blocked by the wheel, blocks none of my road view, doesn't block the vent, and doesn't violate the "nothing on the windshield" laws that seem to be popping up.





Is it a bit unsightly from the side? Perhaps. I could have spent a few more minutes trying to soft curve it to meet the dash curve, but I typically have the phone there while I'm driving (Waze, mostly), so I can't see it at all.

I got the one from mob armor. It's a little pricey but really is an exceptional mount.

 

I did this. One of the best mods ever and gets lots of praise. Placement is PERFECT for navigation purposes. A bit hard to get a charger cable to it and having a long USB cable in the range of 5/6' long loses voltage so it can charge a bit slow.

But it works great.

Leaning towards the Tech Deck with some RAM mounts

 

MOB ARMOR, the best thing I have used. small piece of metal added to dash, uses magnet to attact to dash, add small metal to back of phone that is unnoticable and still allows my thin case to work and its magnetic mount holds it.

Yup. I've got the TechDeck and the A-pillar mount, and the TechDeck wins. Those BirdDawg guys have it figured out. The TechDeck puts it accessible but not blocking the view out the windshield or any of the controls…perfect. Get the TechDeck and a RAM mount.

 

Off the A pillar it doesn't block any view. Anybody putting their phone in the cup holder may as well close their eyes while driving, you're equally unaware.

I have one in each of my Tacomas and in my work truck. I'm pretty much convinced that it's the best and most unobtrusive cell phone mount that money can buy.

 

Sweet! I designed/printed something similar, just doesn't tie up a cup holder.
