Eibach 1.6 + 5100 Thanks to all TW members

A big thank you to all members who post on this site. This amazingly helpful site has allowed me to enjoy my truck more than I thought possible. I purchased Eibach 1.6" coils and 4 Bilstein shocks a couple months ago. Attempted install, but aborted after Mineke assembled coil/shock with spring seat UPSIDE DOWN, and I didn't notice, untill spring violently unsprung during install . Thankfully no one was hurt and there was no damage. So finally had some time to get them installed this week. I still need to get an alignment, but the truck rides and looks better than ever. Thanks again to everyone. Before: After with Eibach 1.6" coils, Bilstein shocks all around and 1.75 aal:







FYI: Bilsteins set @ "0", and did not put in diff drop. I do have some slight vibrations @ 22-25 mph, but very slight. Might put diif drop in to see if that resolves vibes.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Looks sweet man thats a sharp truck you got there! You could also probably put those front billies at .85 to level it out more if you wanted, but the rake looks good too

 

Damn,Not cool when they pop.Compressed the springs on my 2000 got one done and as I had the other off and compressed the compressor started to bend and crack ,left with no other choice than to hit it with a hammer and release it!Drove across town with just a shock in to a Midas LOL.Truck looks great!Getting billy's for mine on the first cant wait!And not doing it myself!

 

Rear TSB or other lift?

 

1.75 add a leaf. I didn't have the patience to argue with my dealer for the tsb, so i bought the aal.

i thought the 5100's were suggested to be paired with OEM coils only? how is the ride?

the vibes are probably from ur aal? do u feel them in the seat or the steering wheel? u shouldn't need the front diff. drop only doing up 1.75 inches.

 

price? How much lift did you achieve with this? How much bigger of a tire can you run? Is your gas mileage affected at all by this? Id really like to get a lift as well for myself, but I definately don't want anything huge, or will impact my gas mileage that much, but would like some better clearance for offroading (if i ever pop my OR cherry!) Purchased in a groupbuy through this forum for about $650 from Toytec.com who is a vendor on this site.
I'm not sure about tire size...I'm running stock BFG Rugged Trails and will replace when necessary with same/similar size BFG A/T.
I 've only had lift on a few days, but I can't imagine the gas mileage could get much worse.
Check out Toytec Lifts... their prices seem reasonable, service was prompt and the people were helpful.
I don't have the height measurements with me, but the coils raised the front almost exactly 1.6" and the aal raised the rear 1.75". I'll post up final measurements later if you want.

 

What's the advantage of doing 5100's and Eibach 1.6 springs vs 5100's only?

 

I have been wondering the same thing...

 

The ride is firmer then stock, which I felt was too "squishy or soft". So I guess the ride is a bit more "truck-like", but for me, it now rides and looks the way a truck should. I'm very happy with this lift.

I'm not an expert, but the 5100's can be paired with a few set-ups and work well, but other set-ups not so well. Check out Toytec Lifts and talk to them about how you're going to be using your truck... They will give you appropriate suggestions and steer you in the right direction.

For my set-up, the 5100's set @ "0", the springs do all the lifting. From my research and reading on here, it seems that by using the springs for lift, the 5100's retain their full functionality without preloading the springs.

So I think the advantage is that by using the springs for lift, the shocks are allowed to just perform as shocks, which contibutes to as smooth a ride as possible with this set-up, without preloading the springs which would result in a bit of a firmer/harsher ride.

Hopefully someone else can chime in if my explanation is way off base.
