I'd say its getting closer and closer by the day. The election could be the catalyst.

When one cheating/lying candidate is backed by a billionaire, and that billionaire is directly tied to the supply of voting machines in 16 states... I'd say we have a good potential for some "change".

Just a little FYI: you don't want to go to Canada just to avoid your crooked politicians... ours are equally intolerable.

For toronto its getting out of control.
But none of those cases are with legally owned guns.

I agree its bad that in this case only thugs have guns.
But I'd rather it not be like the states where everyone (no matter how mentally unstable they are) have guns.
Every country with gun control doesn't seem to be having mass shootings be the norm. Our system could have some work done to it as well, but I'd rather it be the way it is now than out of control like the US is. Our system is bullshit where if you protect yourself in any way you can be charged with assault. Doesn't matter if someone has a knife to your throat.

Difference here is all these guns being used are illegal firearms. Not legally owned firearms.
Interesting it used to be under control here in Toronto. Very few shootings, but now that cops can't stop and card oh look crime skyrocketed.

And we can have all the same guns those thugs have we just cant walk around carrying them like they can in the US. I'd rather not have every dumb shit walking around with a gun thinking they're tough because they have a gun.

In cases like that YES I do agree it would be nice if we had the same rules as the US.
But when it comes to everyone driving around or walking around with a concealed firearm I'd rather not.
Next thing a little road rage turns into a shooting because some idiot pulled a gun.

If we're going to carry I'd rather it be open carry so at least you know who's carrying.

Ya here, when it comes to stuff like that it makes me sick.
You don't even need to touch them. If you have a dog and someone breaks into your house and your dog attacks them. Your dog will 90% be put down because its a 'dangerous dog'

In terms of how gun control is here I like it (not having everyone be walking around with a gun and having it be simple to own automatics etc) In terms of our self defence laws...well I would love to see those change. We can't even legally carry things like pepper spray or a stun gun.
If you carry a knife and conceal it, and say its for self defence, yep you're being charged with carrying a concealed weapon. In places like that I'd really like to see the laws changed.

I'd rather not have guns because of shit like this. Guy starts a fight he can't win so pulls a gun. Luckily no one was killed but rather not have shit like this. Then road rage turns into shootings when it can just be people yelling.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1w6CLZnq8U

Rather see non lethal things be legal.
Gotta love the laws for collapsible batons here.
Completely legal to own and carry (as long as not concealed) but the second you use it, its assault with a deadly weapon.

The vast majority of US gun crimes are with guns that are obtained illegally. A quick search shows 93% (http://www.gunfacts.info/gun-control-myths/crime-and-guns/#note-93-41) That link has a lot of other fun little tidbits.

except majority of the mass shootings.
Let me just clarify something. I have my firearms license too lol. I don't mind guns. I just don't want everyone walking around carrying one.

    won't argue that.

I always have a knife on me. Not for self defence I just often need one for opening boxes at work etc and other EDC task. Its never concealed since ya get caught and you're fucked here. But oh you can bet your ass if someone was attacking me I'd be pulling it if I felt I had to.

But he was part of the establishment.

Wow, don't think you have a grip on what's it like here. Most crap is done with illegal guns, mass shootings probably not so much. Criminals don't seem to care about getting guns legally.

In several of those the system failed, and people facing mental disease were able to buy weapons, or access relative's legally owned weapons.

What is unclear is whether those same people would have merely tossed pipe bombs or molotov cocktails into classrooms instead if the weapons weren't available.

Tough to assess the what ifs.

Right... because link #2 was NOT actually about Manitoba.

No sh**, sherlock. Gun crimes are RARELY, if EVER done, with legally owned guns. EVEN IN THE USA.
THAT IS WHY GUN CONTROL DOES NOT WORK!!!!!

Funny how they don't seem to much care about gun-free zones either... Go figure.
