    We were trying to figure it our as well when we installed mine. From what I can tell it is setup for a wiring harness of some kind, probably an option that is not available yet or coming in upcoming models. I was thinking maybe a front facing camera, lane assist or predictive braking.

    Don't really like the shiny black, so I dipped mine, Matte Black, and then did the "TOYOTA" letters in Dark Gray.

    I'll give it a couple days to really cure then I'll use an after care product for Plasti dip, makes it smoother and gives it a little extra protection. Ordered it from dipyourcar.

    Before, dipped matte black, letters dipped dark gray, and the aftercare spray/wide (haven't applied it yet)
