This was the original grease from the factory, no doubt. The u's are running quiet now. Grease has come along way since 2002.

I bought a HF one as well. Never used a grease gun prior, but I am going to assume it's always difficult to fit them to zerks. It take a bit of force to get it on. And getting it off is even worse.

I wouldn't use that word. It's certainly possible. I got it on all what? 8 or 9 zerk fittings?

That's the spirit! Give it another go. And make sure you're cleaning off each zerk fitting before trying to attach the gun.

I did the same thing. I picked up one at Wally world this morning, it came with a flexible hose & solid (take a 13mm & 14 and tighten each part up). It seemed to work good, about $14-15. I tell you what, my son squeezed the gun while I held er tight on the zerk. That rascal had to be lined up jus right...some could only be greased from the top side of the drive-shaft. He dern near bent the trigger on a couple zerks, the old grease was give out & hardened. All I can say is get em greased asap.

Some of them certainly are a pita to get to. Especially towards the rear end of the drive shaft.

Not surprising. The majority of people never do it, or most other maintenance. You should strive to not be like most people. Grease that shit.

Maybe. But you'll never fix all of them. These trucks make far too many to ever fix them all.

All you'll need to do is go 6 inches or so and it'll be in a good spot. Watch the dog-on skid plate covering the gas tank, you'll need a 90 degree fitting to do it on that side. After you wipe the mud off the zerk, take your finger nail or knife and wiggle the one way ball valve on the zerk. That'll free it enough to let the grease start flowing. When you feel a lot of pressure building, just take it easy so you don't tear up the gun.
