Yah that's a great lens though, comes in like 8 different versions ranging from $700ish to about $2200 I think now. 70-200f4, 70-200f4 is, 70-200f2.8, 70-200f2.8 is, then all those again for the gen2 they just came out with a year or two back, as the original went untouched for well for a lot of years. Can save a little bit of money and get the sigma version very good as well.
Your best option is to buy from canons refurbished site there lens have a year guarantee and come nearly perfect, wait for one of there additional 15% sales. Exp. the best version of that lens 70-200 f2.8is version 2 cost $2200, refurbished for $1600, so on sale it's in the $1400s.

So with the racks what configuration are you going with?
My plan is armor will be color matched white so I thought maybe a white rack but you can only do the long rails white the cross bars would have to be black or raw

 

planning on 40" cutout
all powdercoated black except the cross bars i'll do the anodized clear
