Rent the code reader then, I think it's free actually. You just have to put a deposit down and you get it back when you return it. Or just take it to Pep Boys, they read mine awhile back.

Correct, I think it's a CA thing but places like autozone can't read codes for you anymore. I think you can still "rent" them aka put down a deposit. Last time I just gave them my ID walked out, used it, and gave it back.

@Nicklovin I can't remember what you've already done in regards to alleviating your mpg issue but there are a few things that come to mind
    Plugs
    Wires
    O2 sensor
    Clogged cat
    Evap leak
    Timing?
Parasitic draw (don't see it affecting it THAT much tho)

Also......how are you doing the math? Just trying to cover all the bases.... like @eccracer104 said, I'd be more concerned about a looming issue down the line....those 4 bangers are solid and should be getting 22mpg min.

Maybe the Pep Boys I went to was just being cool to me but they didn't say anything about not being able to read the code, they did tell me that it was illegal in CA for them to clear the code (I asked and got a very stern response lol), but they could read it. Maybe that changed in the last 6 months? :notsure:

Your saying you got a bunch of money and wont go to a mechanic to fix your gas milelage issue? Seems that the job would pay for itself in no time if your getting 13-15mpg. YOur a funny dude Nick

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
    Weird I didn't know that.

The truck says I'm averaging 18.5 mpg right now. I'm not too upset with that. The last 2 weeks after Kings went on I was getting like 16, and when I went to vegas I got fucking 12

I couldn't fucking tell you dude. I was just as baffled. My only guess is that there was a lot of head wind both ways. It was pretty bad. I noticed too that on my way back when I was going up hills I was having that turd gen trans issue where it would keep switching between 5th/6th gear. It was holding 5th gear at like 4k RPMs it was driving me crazy. I tried to put it in to the "manual" mode and shift up to 6th but it still didn't want to shift up, it just stayed in 5th
