Plugs & wires done although @dtaco06 questions the gapping, no idea if there is any evaporations how would I check?, Timing haven't checked, could have a clogged cat possibly, o2 sensor I've cleaned but could be sending a bad amount of air

I would honestly recheck everything. I'm sure you guys are cool and all but kyle clearly can't be considered a competent or qualified person (not being an asshole I'm just saying he's a backyard mechanic at best, as am i)
    Check the gaps
Check the wires make sure they're the right gauge (seriously, vato-zone will sell you the wrong shit and not blink an eye)
Replace the o2 sensor if it's over 100k on the motor
As for the cat, might just have to buy a new one.

Also consider that your CEL and mpg might/probably are related

As for Evap that will come up with a code reader. Not evaporation it's the pressure system that keeps the fuel from evaporating. There could be a pressure leak.

    Just spit balling here

Honestly @Nicklovin, either start with getting a reader on the codes (from what i've been reading im sure they will be quite a few) and work through them or just take to a shop. If you've got the money IMO i would just take to a shop at this point, that's going to be the fastest way to get that thing purring the way it should.

It very well could be a clogged cat. I have both cats on my truck go out on me last year (F@*k CA emissions by the way, had to go to the stealership for them) and replace an O2 on the right bank. but that was causing really bad MPG's and truck ran like crap.

I know for a fact the cel isn't my mpg issue as the cel is recent and the mog issue has been happening for years.
Definitely need to recheck everything when I have time. Hmm a new cat... Probably fair to assume the o2 needs replacement given the age of my truck and milea

I filled up here in LA before I headed out to Big Bear last weekend, sat in rush hour traffic the whole way out and up the mountain, when I got home and I filled up I was at 19mpg. I was actually really surprised lol. But yeah 12 seems suspiciously low even with the uphill drive.

On the trip to ensenada I got 20.54mpg going down......coming back? 13mpg.....that's what I get for idling for 5 and a half hours I guess

Still not bad for 33s and 75mph cruising speed

@Nicklovin how does your truck run? Smooth? Rough? Have you been able to get in another 1st to compare. There are a ton of factors that can cause a near 30% drop in mpg. (Thinking I did that right lol).

When a cel comes on the ecm goes to default parameters to protect itself. most the time it runs the engine rich which will cause shitty mpg

Depending on how rich the truck is running it can also cause cylinder wash over long periods of time

I held out as long as I could, but figured screaming at my phone wouldn't get the point across to him lol. after seeing him have this issue for like 4 months he needs to realize that people that ignore their trucks keep people like me in business :annoyed:

    So I guess... thanks Nick?

I give a lot of advice to a lot of my customers that falls on deaf ears. Some people can't learn from others mistakes they've gotta be learned through their own poor decisions.

We have a saying at my day job,

"The kids got a head full of sand, can't plant nothing in sand."

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
Bigger tires on the 3.5 will hurt 'cause they already have their torque high as hell in the tach. A regear will help but will hurt the top-end. Be light off the line and stay at or below 65ish-mph.

@nfs257 I have a pic "of" your truck  I should be home today and I'll post what I have.

Anyone have experience with the Wheelers 4x4 shop in Glendale? I want to get these UCAs put on before we do MJT (or wherever we end up going) on Saturday.

I have used SMP Fabworks in Burbank and Offroad Unlimited in Burbank. They are both good if they have the time. SMP likely does not.

I called Wheelers and they can fit me in for Thursday, just frustrating because I know if I had the space and time I could do it on my own after watching Brian's install at Gregs a few weeks ago. Oh well. But I'm having them set my 5100s at the .85 setting too to help bring the front up a tad, since my rear is so much higher with the AALs. Should be looking a little more pretty come Saturday.

and hopefully the new uppers will finally take care of the popping/clunking

Same for me. I can do it all but don't have the time or energy usually cause of work.
