From what I read last week, the buy back price has been established and will only change if you put on more than something like 12,500 miles per year or something like that. Point being, it may be worth waiting for this to chill out some, as it shouldn't effect your buy back money. I know when I sold back my 99 to yota it took about a month and I was in a new truck.

My wife was on the ball with our 13 Jetta. We have our appointment on 11/1/16 to get the check. Unfortunately, this will be the first time since I was 15 that we haven't had a watercooled VW of some sort in the driveway (I'm 40). Kinda bummed about it as we have always enjoyed them. On the bright side, we are taking the money and buying a 2015 Lexus 450H to try to make up for some of the mileage loss. Won't be the same, but the wife will be happy.

Do you know when she submitted the documents originally they send an email out when you do, maybe that would give a better window than the few weeks VW told me today.

Hate to tell you that everyone got the 11-1 date that signed up early. Unless you've sent your notarized offer letter, which you didn't since they weren't sent yet, you don't have an appointment.

The v-6 hasn't been given any way to figure the value, you can go to NADA and get a current value but a historical value is almost impossible to find

Just bought a '17 taco SR, but plan to keep our '14 tdi as long as possible as well.
Hoping to get a check for "reparations" to help regenerate savings spent on the down payment for the truck.

The jetta is a great car, and the emissions, while outside of legal limits, are still massively less than previous model jetta, and probably less than the new Taco, if we're splitting hairs.
My basis for a vehicle is utility first, then whether or not I enjoy driving it. Environmental impact is pretty far down the list for me, when considering all the other places we could improve our environment without making me drive something I hate.

Very much agree (In my case a Gulf). This point is often brushed aside. In addition to mid 40mpg all day long. Very good power and torque for it's class, lots of user friendly amenities, drives very (Geman car?) tight and in my experience; 4 years / 90k miles nary a problem.

Again I agree 100%, I would love to see overall graph of emissions for the modern TDI vs 1/2 a dozen or so other vehicles that are/were legal. How about vs a: 80's VW Rabbit diesel, 90's GM v6 full size sedan, last model Caprice or Crown Vic, Late model Hyundai, 90's and current Cummins, late model Accord Hybrid. But I want to see the mpg factored in some how. 40 odd mpg (50 if you baby it) on ULSD has to be very respectable overall #'s.

Can't really compare "cleanliness" on a gas vs diesel, 2 different animals. One spews co2, the other spews nox. Both dirty in different ways.

For all that are waiting for the emissions update you may be looking at it haha.
Being a diesel mechanic and an owner of 2 tdi vdubs, it will suck to ditch the 2015 golf but it's not worth the headache keeping it.

Why are you turning in the VW? You get to drive it for free at 12.5k miles a year until Sept 2018.

I like the VW better than the taco. If the taco had the VW TDI motor it would be about perfect.

If someone hits you and totals your car, you get book value from the insurance, not the buyback amount from VW.
I think it's just a risk some don't want to take. Others have a car with 100k on it and want a new car as life changes over 4-5 years.

I WOULD LOVE A DIESEL TACOMA!!
