sounds pretty standard. Before my friend decided on trying to get a Pro, he was offered $1500 off MSRP on a TRD OR DCSB.

Yup, $1500 is very standard…here in Alberta anyways…can't comment on other provinces. 8+ months ago, a guy here got $3000 off msrp in Edmonton…showed the proof and everything. Actually helped me get my $2800 off mine (Calgary)!

 

My first offer was $1800 off, guy was willing to do more if I walked out the door with a deal that day. Anyways got a better deal at a different dealer. There is definitely more markup than $3k.

 

It also helps if you come in at the end of the month or year when the dealership is trying to meet certain volume. I asked for $2000 off my DCSB OR at the end of August, and they didn't even counter. Wished I asked for more.

 

Correct, January and February end of months is your best bet for negotiating. Very low sales.

Yeah the full markup is $3100. You guys are lucky in Alberta. Vancouver area Toyota dealers are used to getting MSRP or close to it. Locally most dealerships can't keep double cabs in stock; they have zero reason to negotiate.

I would have dealt with Mike in Alberta if not for the $2000 off, documentation fee waived ($499), accessories at cost and $10080 for my trade in. Other dealerships were offering me 7-8k for my 2008 Acura TSX.

 

over60: Are your boards the same as in this picture? The dealer sent me this picture and said they are from Toyota and are $365 CAD + tax (not installed), but they are all plastic (over an aluminum frame I believe). I am looking for something that: a) won't rust in Ontario winter climate b) is preferably black c) helps getting into cab d) does not scrape the back of your leg getting back out e) provide some door ding protection. Not planning to go off roading. I also like the Luverne Baja - it's black powder coated stainless nerf bars with 2 individual steps on each side - but a lot more $$$ than the ones pictured.

2017 DCSB OR (no accessories) on the road price, all in $45500, figured thats base price plus tax. no pdi, levis, doc fee, etc. so about $2100-2500 depending on how they worked it.

 

All Canadian Toyota trucks have the mudflaps installed once they cross the border, and all Toyota models since 2012 come with carpet and all season mats.

 

Your right, but not by much, our Limited has $3300 markup, which changes as you go to lower models of course.

 

Your also right here normally however with a lot of our vehicles taking up to 3 months to get from factory, any time is a good time to negotiate.....or PM me and I can get you a good deal of course

 

Yes, those are the exact boards that I had on my 2006 and now 2016... Black plastic over aluminum...Same pattern on them as the bed covers...

A nice board... My 2006's were perfect when I traded in '16... I highly recommend...

 

That's the exact price that my broker can order one at. He was saying that the only way to get more off is to add extras and get them for the lowest buck you can. but really that's not changing much.

 

I'm sure dealers are still making money at the above price. Obviously no one stays in business for long selling at, or below actual true cost. It may look like cost, but I'm sure there are kickbacks that provide the profit margin required. No one works for free, unless they are a volunteer. Same as the rest of us, we all have jobs of some kind, and have to provide for ourselves, and our families. I don't begrudge the dealers making money, that's business, but we at the same time are looking out for our priorities(family's) same as them. I would say 45,500 in BC, and 42,400, plus or minus a couple bucks in AB is about as good as it gets for out the door pricing. The only way I did better was to get my skid plate, bed mat, and floor mats tossed into the deal. Plus, I got a few good headaches for free

 

Hi. The Canadian part number is C0320-35055, and two dealers quoted me $364.98. Standard installation time is 1.0 hours, and obviously more $, but dependant on the dealership's hourly rate.

One concern I have is whether they are too high (i.e. too close to the height of the sill). Have not seen or tried one to test. I definitely find it awkward to get into the cab without some sort of step. I am old and short!

 

They are to high to be a good step up into the cab... even coming out...I put my right foot on the board and "scooch" forward so I can touch the ground without messing my pants on the boards.. Yeah, they are not great as a "step"..

If Toyota had put the damn handle on the driver's side, you'd not have to grab the steering wheel to get in either..!

 

I have these on my '16 AC Tacoma. I am 6ft and don't use them as they are too high for me. My wife at 5ft4in doesn't like them as she needs to step up too high to use them. As she doesn't ride with me often not a big deal, she has her Subaru Outback to get around. For me I use it when washing the truck and it protects the sides from rock chips. Getting in no problem, getting out a very slight rub on my pants so if dirty the pants are dirty .

 

I also love them for when washing the truck... just walk on them and clean the roof, etc..!! Hard to do without, I'm sure..!
