What kind of tires? I ask because I had a set of popular tires I see many TW users have, and You could darn near let all the air out of the tires and the sidewall was so stiff, you couldn't even tell they were almost flat.

I've got the Americas tire pathfinder, formally known as the Kumho road terrain. They are not 10ply, because I wanted a better ride lol.

As far as removing leafs from Dakar's, I've heard two different ways; ARB recommends removing the 3rd one down(this way lowers the ride height and softens the ride a little). Some people remove the upper overload so that they can retain spring rate(same ride quality, but lower height).

Gotcha. Removing the 3rd would pretty much lower the rear by the thickness of the spring itself?

I'm waiting until mine are good and broken in, before I remove anything. I haul stuff from time to time, and don't want to remove a leaf and have a squatting rear end.IMG_20161018_155023530.jpg

That would be the case if you removed the overload. Removing an upper spring will lower it a little more than the thickness of the leaf, because it's one of the riding leafs

Uploaded the wrong pic, earlier. I was trying to show you the unloaded side, so you could see the separate overloadsIMG_20161018_155034224_HDR.jpg

so how do the front Kings ride? I have spacers now and dakars in the rear, both a little bumpy but thinking of pulling the trigger on the front upgrade next......I bought the truck used with the rear leaf packs in and OEM shocks with TC UCA. I'm guessing the orig owner pulled out the nice front coilovers he had in there and didn't bother with the rest when he traded it in. Are you running King rear shocks as well?

Yes I've got kings on all corners and the front rides great. Soaks up everything and I haven't been able to bottom them even when jumping

I ride unloaded every single day with my Dakar leaf packs (full packs - nothing removed) and my ride is better than the stock 3+1 leaf pack. js

I am running a modified Dakar pack (top overload leaf out, anti-squeak pucks installed) and I must say, it is great.
There is about 2" of lift in the rear with this set up.

Removing the top overload will decrease the height without losing spring rate.
Removing the 3rd leaf will allow you to load more but will be a bit stiff and won't decrease the height as much.

I've got a full OME setup with Dakars in the rear. It rode like a 2500HD and had a lot of rake with the Dakars. I pulled the 3rd leaf spring from the top out and it dropped the rear end and softened the ride. It still has a little bit of rake, but that's okay since I load about 400 lbs of motocross gear in the bed most weekends and it handles it perfectly. The stock leafs are a joke, my mom's 10lb dog would squat those things. A lot of people say the Dakars squeak but mine are silent and I haven't done any type of lubing.

I have the shit 1.5" deaver aal and find it rides similar to stock.. however I have a cap and know that helps smooth it out. Get a couple bags of sand and drive around for a while?
