The MT was a '17 and the AT was a '16. It didn't really feel bad, just a little clunky which doesn't surprise me. I was thinking some of it may be not being used to the throws (me searching a little for the gears) so I assume it'll feel better with time.

Your experience is normal; as others in this forum have said it's a lot smoother than the 2nd Gen 6 speed MT... but it is a different animal in comparison with sporty cars with standard transmissions. This is a beast you'll just have to learn to tame over time. I learned how to drive on my dad's 1995 s10 pick up and then drove a 2002 jeep wrangler 5 speed for 9 years and then a vw golf 5 speed for a year.. they all acted somewhat different. Honestly I feel this vehicle the Taco is the hardest to learn or get a feel for driving but once you learn how to adjust, it is much more fun and pleasing to drive. I wouldn't have it any other way. Good luck on your decision.

Was given a quote for a 17 DCSB OR 6spd mag grey with tow package for $31582, seriously considering taking the hit and trading my SR5 DCLB auto for it.

Personally I fall asleep at the wheel of any car no matter the transmission.

If the conditions are correct and I have been driving long enough

Hesitating a bit as I've never owned a manual, only driven one a few times, but ride motorcycles, lol. I do think it would be sweet though.

My 04 is super clunky compared to the Scion I had previously. So much so that in the first couple months I owned it, the local Toyota dealership got tired of me always asking if something was wrong with it lol. I've learned to love it.

That's an excellent price! Damn, I paid about 1,600 more than that. I didn't know the 17's were out yet.

That includes my military rebate. I paid $30.9k for my 16 sr5 dclb so it is a good price. They offered me $30k for my 16, so it'd be a bit of a loss on that end. Tough choice I'm gonna at least go look at it tonight.

Ah ok...makes sense. I guess you have to weigh out how much you want the newer one and if the loss is worth it.

I think they've been out almost a couple months now, seen more than a handful of them pop up on the forums with some new members. Glad to see that Toyota kept the manual trans option going for at least another year....

I bought the longbed for transporting my mx bike with ease to the track but the longer wheelbase is getting annoying and I really want the rear locker and manual transmission. 1st world problems

A couple months? Not around here. When I bought my '16 I went to a few nearby lots (Downey, Cerritos, Carson, Long Beach - California) and none of them had '17's. This was about a month ago.

According to Toyota's website the 2017 Tacos started rolling out in August, probably only in select areas though
