So I'm going with the OME setup but need front coil recommendation.

My plan is a winch up front with either the hidden mount or one of the low profile C4 Fab ones. Adds a bit of weight but not like a full ARB bar.

Which coils should I go with? Not looking for a radical lift....

I'm thinking either the 887 or the newer 888...

    thoughts?

Even with the winch and mount? Just wondering....

Yes. You're not going to be adding on the full weight of a steel bumper..

This ^. The 887s will get you 2 3/4 lift with the double cab - give or take. The winch and mount (or light bumper) will bring you down another 1/2 inch or less. Gives you a nice 2 to 2 1/2 inch moderate lift. Of course, if you add skids and sliders it will bring you down another 3/8 to 1/2 inch (it did on my 887s).

I'm going to replace my front bumper with an aluminum Baja bumper (65#s) with a winch added after.. so I have installed 885s.. smooth ride now.. the sport suspension was complete crap compared to Bilstein 5100s and 885s.

This is good advice. My 885 coils got here a few days ago. 885 coils should give about 1.5" of lift so I ordered some .5 ttfs blocks for the rear. When I go c4 fab bumper and winch it will add about 200lbs worth of weight to the front so I'll change over to 886 coils then.

I have the 885's now with my Pelfreybilt aluminum bumper and no winch. Once I nail down a winch to go with, I'll install the 886's that have been collecting dust in my garage for 6 months

Is the difference between the setups their height or is it stiffness, or is it a combination of the two?

For those with a winch bumper and 886, what lift height are you seeing?

What are you doing in the rear? you'll want 888's to match dakars.

    Both length (height) and stiffness

The shocks can't handle the spring rates and stiffness and would cause the shock to fail. There's a reason they design me shocks that are meant to handle the wide range of coils they make

Here are the specs - reason for some specs missing is the new 5100s for the 3rd gens are well new. No data yet - this is from HeadStrong website:

While I was looking around I noticed that OME includes the FK29 carrier bearing shims with their Tacoma suspension upgrade. I added the FK29 shims to my rig and it made an improvement in drive line smoothness felt at seat of pants after lifting. FYI there

**When using the new Bilstein 5100 struts for the 2016+ (part # 24-263108) and shocks are at the 1st notch.
    • OME 887: Approximate lift height = TBD (call for info)
    • OME 888: Approximate lift height = TBD (call for info)

Hey NP - just keep in mind gong over say 2" of lift and that increases cost about 2-3x for bigger better parts and whatnot. Best to asses what you wanna do with your truck, that will determine your budget and where you wanna be with the suspension.

Lots of us went the 5100/OME route... I'm not a rock crawler .... I've done it in Jeeps - fucked em up too. Crawling is more stress for me than fun... to each his own. Mud sand snow trails camping and kayaking are my thing and occasional fishing with a boat. 1.5-2" lift for me is enough.
