DIY Hi-Lift and Tool Mounts

rbraddock I hope you are still on here, where did you get the brackets for the rubber mounts?

 

Not rbraddock but those are Quick Fists. Amazon carries them along with a lot of offroad and hardware stores.

 

This is my setup. Still figuring out how to carry the hi-lift.

 

Easy. Assuming its a 48" jack do something similar to this and save forty or fifty bucks.

I like that, especially if I can fit it along the passenger side under the tool box.

Something I put together for my 1st GEN.

 

That's a ton of shit.

 

There is not one solution for everybody but this is what I will be using. It is a custom ProTec RV box. Stock length was 60" had them make it 56" for me. Exact dimensions are 56" long (from one side to the other)x 10.75" tall x 20" front to back. I did not want an over the bed rail or one to go below wheel wells. This is on a 2nd gen short bed.

 

Not being negative atb all but with your camera resolution and on my crappt tablet I have no idea WTF you have going on there and why it's happening.

 

A old temporary set up I had when my front runner rack had cracked. I did make a box out of it. Was able to fit one more ammo can and enough room for all my straps.

Made my tool mount today following the directions posted with a couple slight modifications. First, I started out with the bars 1/2 inch longer than specified. I made an extra bend with this extra 1/2 inch to give some additional area for the bottom part of the mount that rests against the side of the bed. I just thought the extra area would prevent the bracket from wearing as much on the bed.

I was going to use two sets of the standard Quickfists, but when I tried it out with the ice scraper on top, these would not hold the scraper tightly. I swapped out the standard Quickfists for the Minifists that were included in the kit I purchased. These worked perfectly for the scraper.

Thanks for a great idea for these mounts. Your plans were spot on and making these was much easier than I expected.

 

Thanks for the write up! Here's what I put together with your idea and some junk I had laying around. I modified the design a little by adding a third anchoring point for a little extra stability. Free ftw!

Holy orange handled awesomeness! That's a lot of fiskars. But not to much stuff, at the moment I have 2 shovels, 4 axes, 2 machetes, 1 maul, and 1 hi-liftill post some pics after I finish cleaning the truck out this weekend.

 

I finally did this recently, with a few modifications. I haven't painted them yet though! I may remake the brackets so I can add my splitting maul in there somewhere as well.

I did the same as @Realoldfatguy and made that extra bend at the bottom. I also set mine away from the side of the bed by about 3 inches to accommodate the shovel, hilift and my canopy. I also only used 1" flat bar (all I could find) but it worked out great as i made a few short pieces with holes drilled in them that slide down the tracks perfectly! So if you can't find those T slot thingers, it's a cheap and easy option. I'm super pleased with the results! much better than my previous set up! Thanks for the inspiration @Benson X !!!!
