Ah Kimber, the one that popped my handgun cherry. She knew I didn't need any other round beside the big 45. She was a little rough but over time she opened up and taught me how a good woman treats her man. I could work her over blind folded and know exactly where all her parts where. In time after many sessions she was lose and easy to handle, but always kept me tight on paper.

I used some nylon to get it started and a straight screw driver for downforce.

Would've been easier with a GI setup, but FLGR didn't win. My Baer ate nylon wrenches for breakfast, it was so tight.

 

The lock up on a baer is crazy tight. I was always impressed yet puzzled.

You can get it apart without removing the guide rod. Just pull the slide back and pull the take down pin.

 

I needed to fully disassemble.

I couldn't get my Baer apart until 3600 rounds went through. Luckily that was only 3 sessions at the range.

 

So, you're saying you fired 1200 rounds in a day?

With a .45? That's some serious physical abuse.

This was back when $140 got 1k rounds of 230 grain FMJ ball in new steel ammo cans shipped to your door. I haven't had to buy .45 ammo since those days, either. Still shooting through my stash.
