School Lunches: Do Kids Really Deserve This?

Not to sound crazy or anything, but couldn't this problem be solved just by packing your kid's lunch?

 

I've looked into buying that rectangular pizza and it's something like $98 for a case that has about 100 pizzas in it. Which isn't bad pricing but I have nowhere to store 100 pizzas. If I ever have kids I will spend the extra time to make their lunch most likely. It's a pain but at least I know they will get some real food and not cheese bread from under a heat lamp. For a second when I saw the pictures you put up I thought they had left the plastic on.

 

hahaha I just realized it wasn't in plastic. Until I read your comment I was like why the hell is it wrapped in plastic??

 

Not all kids have that luxury unfortunately, you'd be surprised how many kids are on the free/reduced lunch programs based on income and family situations.

 

They typically are, like here in Texas each ISD (independent school district) is pretty much on their own.

 

Have you had the new rectangle pizza's? They are now on whole wheat pizza dough and taste like shit.

 

I eat with my son at school a good bit every year. I see these kids personally not eating their lunches because they don't like the food anymore. They will pick around at their plates and eat stuff like the corn bread or the toast and drink their milk. I'd rather they serve what they did before and the kids actually eat a whole meal than eat a piece of bread and some milk and have to go on that all day. Healthy is one thing but when they don't eat that's worse. I can see giving this to the older kids but young kids don't eat like this at home and they aren't going to at school either.

 

My daughter used to tell her younger brother that he would love the lunch in highschool. (they are 5 years apart). when he got there the lunches are crap. Thank you Ms Obama. My daughter went down the list of her lunches and none are served now. Turkey wraps,chicken wraps,ham and cheese hoagies,dominos pizza,burgers,. I want to eat there. Lol

 

As a childless tax payer I approve of that lunch! Jk that is pretty bad. Far worse than I had in school.

 

I'm more shocked that an elementary kid is using snapchat to communicate with his parents

 

I think it was parents who took the pic and SCd it. They were there at school eating with the kid.

This is what my nephew did. He would eat the roll or whatever he could stomach with his milk and then tear into the refrigerator as soon as he got home.

Same here. Every once in a while he will eat what they have but mostly not and takes his lunch.

Disparity between school districts even when I was back in high school was deplorable.

Went as a freshman to a city high school and got the best damn lunches I'd ever seen. Parents moved out to the country so I swapped schools and majority of lunches were of lesser quality, but never in my damn life did I get served cheese toast as my meal lol.

I recall as a freshman this stuck up solitary prick whined about the lunch quality, and thinking back on it even then I was like stfu bitch you don't know how good you got it.

 

You should watch 'Supersize Me'. There is a 15 minute or so part of that on how bad the food is our public schools are feeding the kids. You won't let them eat it once you watch.

 

No refugee or illegal alien should get a dime until we can properly feed our children and vets.

 

I found it's easier to not have kids and not worry about what to feed them.
