Looking for a factory roof rack like this. I see tons of sellers on Ebay and Amazon but can't tell if they are Toyota factory racks or off brands. They seem to look very similar. Anyone know of a good price and a reliable seller that sells a proper factory roof rack?

Just got done fighting to return the "genuine" one I ordered from an Amazon seller. Whatever you do, just avoid the Amazon seller 'Auxmart'. They advertise their products as genuine OEM parts, then send you a cheap Chinese knockoff part and try to convince you it's legit. I'm just going to buy one from a dealer. They're not that bad if you call around.

I just bought one that was an Amazon warehouse deal for $231 hoping it is a genuine one and not the one you're sending back

I bought it through a prime seller, yes. Easiest way to tell if it's genuine when you get it, is to look for part numbers and the "LH" or "RH" stamped/etched into the parts. OEM parts have part numbers on em. Cheap knock offs don't always. In this case, mine didn't. If it said genuine OEM in the ad, and you get it and it isn't, Amazon has this dealy-o called the "A to Z guarantee" which protects buyers from sellers selling fake bullshit. Just contact Amazon and let me know. They should take care of you.

Hope you have better luck than I did! :fingerscrossed:

I'm in the market for a roof rack too. There is one seller on eBay who is deceptively selling a knockoff version for $219 with included shipped. The language used in the description eludes that it's NOT an OEM roof rack, so avoid that one too.

I've probably spent an hour altogether looking and comparing prices on the internet, using google. Best bet is to call around locally, and find one in the $249 range - and pay your local sales tax. Can also try calling dealers nationwide to find the $200 shipping included unicorn which may or may not exist.

Amazon is sending me one that is ships from and sold by amazon so hopefully that one will be good but the open box one was missing all of the mounting hardware.

No hardware? Bolts/plastic clips/brackets...? And yours has scratches and sh*t all over it like mine did. Also, if the parts don't have part numbers or 'LH' / 'RH' cast into them, they're not legit OEM parts.

The one I bought from eBay seller motors_zone is a knock off. I didn't catch the 'OE factory style" part of the description.

Probably better off just buying directly from the dealership. Too much headache to save a few bucks.

I bit the bullet and went to my local Toyota dealer and had their parts department order me one. He quoted me $340 and as I was getting ready to end the call, he suddenly dropped the price $300. I know I could have probably gotten it cheaper on the internet, but given all the shady roof rack deals I've seen go on, $300 was not bad for peace of mind.

Take it through a car wash, I've read that sometimes they may leak.

I bought mine from the dealer for the list price, but he installed it for free while doing a regular service. I know its no big deal to install, but I figured if it did leak, then at least it his problem to fix it. Anyway, it doesn't leak and works great for my CVT awning. The big advantage of the OEM design, is that when you're not using it or cruising somewhere at high speed, it makes no noise when its folded to the side. Its the only rack that is quiet, which is important to me. If I have to drive somewhere on a big highway for a few hours at 120-130 km/hr, it would be severely annoying to have to endure wind noise from a roof rack.
