See thats what im worried about. You have some with a host of unfixable problems and others with the bulletproof taco we are use to. Ive already had enough VW TDI woes to have to deal with it again on a new taco. Thank you all for your insight!

*update I also checked all of the local lots toyota and the other guys. 10 used 2016s all with 1500-7800 miles. I just dont get it. Pickup buyers as a whole keep their vehicles longer than anyone.

Another word of advice I can give is don't only test drive a new one. I don't know why people do that. I was forced to buy at the time I did because I was in the market for a new truck after 15 years on the old one. I took a gamble and bought sight unseen due to the configuration I was after. If the option is there, I prefer to put the ones with 10k, 20k, 30k + to the test to see how those are doing. A lot of the 2016 owners haven't noticed issues until a few thousand miles at least. Drive the used ones, go on a cold early morning, go again on a hot afternoon, use all of the problems identified here to see if you can spot them on the used ones. I bet you'll spot more than a few, the annoyance problems are way too commonly brought up here.

Then when you have an idea and have driven enough of them to see what those problems are, you can make a better educated guess for yourself if you could live with those problems showing up on your new one. What bothers me may not bother you and vice versa.

This isn't going to guarantee you get a problem free vehicle, but it is another good way to look at the make/model overall.

Probably quite a few of the newer ones your seeing are repos. A lot of people get a new vehicle make a few payments and then cant keep up with the payments and they get reposessed. Its more common than you think.

Never thought of that. But how/why do they end up at hyundai, honda, or whoever dealerships?

I did a craigslist search in my area for a 2016 Tacoma and there is only 1 in a radius of about 100 miles and its a 4cylinder, and there are trucks on every corner here.

There was a thread a few months ago on this and there are not as many as you think considering how many are sold.

This is true in comparison to the number sold. Recently seen 4 on craigslist not including the ones at dealerships. I just want to have my bases covered and try to avoid any problems this time.

4 cyl 2wd... people upgrade or moving to the pro from a Sport or OR. I have had a ton of problems.. Like all the main issues most people are dealing with.. I still really like the truck but, lower end torque is needed.. better shift management, attention to detail. People can handle the little things, its the bigger stuff thats killing the rep of this truck.

Big stuff like low end torque from a 6?
Shift management from a 6 speed. Wait til you try the Colorado 8 speed coming out, LOL ! Thats the way new trannys are these days.
    What else ?
    Detail IMO is great.

My truck would shift hard from 4th to 3rd so hard it would rattle the whole truck. I was 3 qts low on tranny fluid. My window rattles, I had the lower control arm howl, I had my high pressure fuel pump replaced because it was chirping so loud it sounded like it was a bucket running down the road, you could hear it with the windows up and radio on loud and... its chirping again from the fuel pump on the replacement, my 4x4 is not disengaging properly! so some of us are having real issues!

    What test drive ? LOL.
I haven't had one issue other than the control arm howl from the holes which really isn't worth typing it in its a bs fix.

Eeekk I couldn't buy one without an extensive(30-60 minute) test drive. That stinksbud.

Just curious what's their explanation for telling you they're not going to fix the reoccurring problems ? Did they give you the extended warranty to avoid the lemon law somehow ? Just seems like there's something very not right here

How many miles do you have on yours? Have you tried other gas stations for the chirping fuel pump? Mine chirped loudly, I have it on video. Now I'm at 10k miles and I don't know if it is a different blend of additives in the gas this time of year (I always use Chevron), but it doesn't chirp anymore. I've verified it multiple times. We'll see if it comes back next spring. Weather can't be a factor as I live in SoCal and it is 70's+ all year.
