    Hey all,
I am looking to achieve the whiter light for my low beams/high beams so I can match them to the drl l.e.d..

Can anyone recommend a "whiter" plug and play halogen bulb? I don't want to spend an arm and a leg on l.e.d. system.

    Thanks

No, I do not... Sorry... But I noticed that when I changed out one side, the other side looked real yellow like the 1974 trucks lights were...

Not sure what you are saying about "blue filters"... My lights are frigging White as the North Pole on a real sunny day...!! Yeah, I know the Kelvin scale says that they are going into that "blue" range, but I don't think they are far enough to actually show blue..!

These bulbs did increase the light output over the OEM's... big time... I'm very happy.

That just means that they are into the "blue spectrum"... That's just 1 step above the white....and 6 above the yellow..!!

Check out the Kelvin scale ...They do not show BLUE light...

The best bang for the money IMO is H11 to H9 upgrade. (http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?254193-Difference-between-H9-and-H11-bulbs). I have done this to all of our cars with H11 bulbs and the upgrade is very effective.

You might perceive them as brighter than stock due to a "whiter" light because of the blue coloring. However, that blue color on the bulb uses a chemical coating to remove some wavelengths from the bulbs output to change the color. Meaning, to get "whiter" it is absorbing some lumens from colors other than blue to get the active filament output to appear to be bluer and whiter than it would be, naturally. So, while it is a whiter-white, assuming wattage is the same (55W) you are putting less lumens on the road for your own visibility than a good H11 bulbs like the clear Philips Ultravision*.

*Note, it might be brighter than the OEM bulb if the OEM bulb is crappy. However something like an Ultravision should demonstratably output more lumens for you.

Never heard of doing what? It really isn't something you can do since it is built into the bulb.

I doubt the coatings on the bulb surface do much besides change the color temp/reduce output, but I don't know beyond that.
