Do not bring booze across the border unless you've spent enough time in the US to have it completely duty-free. You will pay twice the cost of the booze in duty and taxes.

If you cross w/ under ~$200USD worth of goods, they will usually let you pass with no taxes/duties. Otherwise you will have to pay standard taxes on whatever you bring. If the item is not made in NAFTA, you'll also pay duty, depending on the type of item.

    $500USD item made in the US -> covert to CAD ~= $670 -> apply taxes = (12% in BC) $670 * 0.12 = $80 CAD of taxes to pay.

Don't lie, don't screw with border guards.

Yup. They know. And if they don't they'll search.
I've passed without duty before AFTER telling them I had bought items. They just doing their job

Okay, I probably shouldn't say this, since I'm an engineer at Ford, also am literally wearing a Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GT team jersey at the moment ... but the GT is probably the worst sounding car on the track. The Vettes, Porsches, Ferraris, Astons, literally everything else out there sounds better than the GT. I'm not saying the GT is the worst sounding thing on the planet, I'm just saying that compared to everything else around the track the sound falls flat. I love the cars and team (I have autographed photos on my wall ...), but I'm not going to sit here and pretend that the V6 is music to my ears ...

edit: just to show off some of my cool Race Porn ..

Eh to each their own I guess. I listened to both of the Fords at the petit le mans on road Atlanta for 10 hours just last month. One of the best sounding cars out there imo

The Ford GT's sound cool and different, but to my ears I just prefer the others. Like you said, to each their own :) ... I still get excited about the cars and have followed them all season long. Can't wait to see how they do in their sophmore year ;)

I love the Aston Martins' sound, and the Corvette has such a distinctive sound too ... it's great that you can clearly tell what is coming around the turn just from the sound. It really helps to give the cars some personality, which is something I think is lacking from the Prototype classes. The LMP cars just all look the same and sound basically the same too. At least with the GT classes their is a distinctive look and sound to each.

I really just get excited about all the cars ... I dunno, I'm a bit of a geek about these things ...

You have 2 crappy sounding v6's in your profile. You may be a bit biased.

Totally in the ear of the listener.

TRD is all I've heard that sounds at all interesting over stock.

Everything else sounds like someone wanting their v6 to sound like something it isn't.

    But that's just my ears.

I am running a MBRP Catback with a dump before the axle. IMHO the tone is great, it does have a bit of drone especially on the highway running 80 or more.

If you want a little quieter ride you might consider getting the single side exit. Either can be had for the same money.

The axle dump will be less likely to get clipped if you wheel moderate to hard.

Exhaust systems much like horns and music are subject to the taste of the listener and what one considers good another may think is horrible.

    Good luck.

if you're stock the TRD is great, nice and low and mellow, just right if you ask me. if you remove rear cats or whatever you may need to do more. I'm on that project right now. working out a combo of Spintech and a resonator to compensate for removing the rear cats.

I have been scratching my head about this since I got my Taco. Stock, I like what I am hearing, esp as I drive around most times with the slider open. I think it sounds best during the enrichment phase while warming up, but then I almost never get on it when it is warming up.

With that, I was having a hard time understanding how this motor could sound bad. It seems to have that classic Toyota V6 sound. Then the other day, I heard an MT Pro launch from a stoplight and was surprised how bad it was. Definitely some type of loud aftermarket system.

Similarly, I was scratching my head about the folks hating the 2nd Gen Ford Raptors, so much so that they are going back to a V8 next year. They all sounded pretty good to my ears (not as good as the V8, but. . .). Recently I heard a bad aftermarket on one of those. Wayyyy bad.

Echoing your advice, I would stick with the TRD. Folks say there is some slight performance increase with it also. I'd like to snag a used one to make an axle dump version out of it. So yeah. Just a muffler swap. :D

just keep in mind that the rear cats are part of the tuned sound. i removed those and resonance is largely lost above 4k. I'm still on the TRD muffler but only that since i have the Y pipe and a reroute. so I'm considering adding a tube style resonator after the Y pipe to see if that brings back some resonance up high to mellow the sound. it's not bad under 4k, but not quite as deep. but startup is mo betta! for what that's worth..

Thanks. I have no plans for the y pipe other than the crossover reroute.

This is our first non-turbo in almost 20yrs. Those turbos just loved straight pipes and absorption mufflers. Resonators were spool killers.

I still want to unleash the subby sound on the Forester, but the wife would kill me and it'd sound like shit teamed up to that CVT. Maybe a hybrid-BOV to freak here out?
