To each their own... I can think of 4 reasons why I'd at least entertain a full-size from one of the big 3 rather than another Toyota.

    1. Diesel in the Ram 1500 - I'd look at it, but I've heard there's issues.
    2. Ram Rebel - Auto-leveling airbag suspension sounds like it would strike a nice balance between lift on a truck and load capability. For towing, adjustable rear spring rates through airbags is the only way to go.
    3. Chevy - I like the traditional design. V8, steel bed. It's probably the most-like a Tundra these days.
    4. Raptor - Saw probably 5 of them testing yesterday in MI. They all look gorgeous... especially the extended-cab short-bed in blue.

I guess I haven't "seen the light" with Toyota's full-size like I have with the Taco

In some of the early press it was said to have an additional 1" in the front over the 2016. Now that I've seen the 17 pros, I don't believe it. I was hoping to go up one more tire size from the 265/75r16 that people are doing stock, but I don't think it will fit, not if you plan to hit any bumps.

I think it's just that the 2016 has 1" over the 2nd gen. The Pro is probably no different than a standard 2016 from what I'm seeing.

I agree that the standard 2016 heights are what hit the showrooms, but the old press said it had an additional inch in the front. It was in most of the press. Go look on the Chicago auto show spec sheet from Toyota. Its on their site.

I think this is correct. I don't know where I saw it, but I recall the Pro's were to have an additional 1" in the front. Side by side, the Pro is just a tad higher...like a half inch. Or maybe that is because it is white (and looks a little bigger) than the grey? Not sure. But inside it feels much bigger...roomier...not shoulder to shoulder with a passenger.

There's a post that has actual measurements of pro and or. pro is 1" taller than the other tacoma's. There also a thread of a member putting the pro suspension on his or.

Interesting. But I think what you are saying is that you prefer a full-size truck over Tacoma...nd full-size prices! Agree on the Raptor 100%...they are beautiful, but they also START 10K over the TRD Pro price (I have heard). I'm not very up to date on Tundras, but I think Tundra is the truck to compare to the four choices you mention, no?

What I tried to say was I own and enjoy a Tacoma, but I doubt I'd stick with Toyota if I were to upgrade to a fullsize. I don't have a need for a fullsize though. I just don't think what makes my Tacoma desirable is what would make a Tundra desirable.

Local dealer contacted me Tuesday (after I visited Monday) they have a Barcelona Red that was just delivered. Going to look at it on my next day off. Not intending to purchase red, but....

Not providing location information until I take a look at it then I will update for anyone looking. I'll swipe some pictures and a sheet if I can.

...^^^... FWIW ... was not a fan of Barcelona Red either ... but after owning a TRD OR 4x4, in that color ... I really miss that truck ... it may have been my best looking Tacoma ever. :)

Good luck with whatever color you choose.

Just put these letters on...better than expected. They were easy and much higher quality than I expected. Look like factory. In fact, not sure why Toyota/Gulf States doesn't offer these pre-installed?

[IMG] I picked mine up yesterday. This truck is pretty amazing. I'm struggling to understand why people are complaining about things like power... it has plenty of power for passing, merging, all normal driving situations. I won't tow with it until after around 1000 miles, same goes for off roading, but I'm sure it will be fine.

Transmission is also great. Shifts smooth and predictably. And I have no complaints about the stereo or entune. This is a GREAT truck.

The 2008 is going to be getting some upgrades. My wife said if I get a new truck, her truck gets mid-traveled and a stereo upgrade.

Totally agree with all of this...power, drive, smooth transmission, etc. I've also noticed no noises, rattles or whistles. perfect truck. I LOVE this truck.
