    I'm no expert but I though higher end shocks had shafts that were hardened for chip resistance? I've had my Icons for a while now and haven't seen any pitting.

    Yeah that was kind of what I was thinking but the idea was put in my head from the expedition portal. I guess those guys see it from desert roads for extended periods of time. My guess is that is part of the reason OME has the rock guards on the BP-51's.
    Exactly why I am not running them on my ICONS but monitoring how my shafts are.

    This is a better option but it's for a 4runner.

    http://iconvehicledynamics.com/shop...r-stainless-steel-lower-shock-shin-guard.html

    Could make something similar to go over the out side of the lower mount to deflect rocks, similar to the Raptor plastic piece.

    if that's what shock is forward on 2nd gens.

    Really your not going fast enough here for rocks tossed by the fronts to still be aloft or bouncing to hit the rear shocks or axle with force. I see more fronts with corrosion from the lower spring seat than rears with pits. And shock shafts are fairly cheap.

    I passed the group that were at rock therapy as they were coming down and they told me to stay right. I'm site the left side isn't anything crazy, but staying with the easier stuff when you're alone it's always good.

    I figured There would be a ton of people when i did it but i passed three groups, went up with a mildly modded turd gen on the afternoon. Camped up top and only saw two hikers, nobody else coming up. So you can't rely on someone top save your ass, even on what you would think would bee a busy trail.

    @kashtyaatsi did yall survive?

    We did survive but I fudged up..and found out my wife is an awful spotter. We made it to the top but then saw that the trail kept going so I thought that wasn't the true top. I kept going down the part where it got reeeaaaalllyyy tricky for me. There was a lot of banging and scrapping all just to find out that part circles back down and I was already at the top before. So we make our way back up and by that time it's too dark for a picture and now we made camp. I need some armor.

    Yeah we're at the top. Just found the flattest spot to set the tent up and we'll wait for sunrise.
