They'd sell quick in San Diego and I could probably transport. I'm headed out there for Veterans Day

Are you in the AZ Tundras Facebook group? I bet they'd sell there. Or the West Coast Tundra Crew if @4Running Daily is headed to SD...

Long shot but would anybody here be willing to help/teach me to rebuild the top end of my CR125? I will provide cash, beer and food. I am in no rush to get it done but I should probably do it sooner than later because I do not know the history of the bike or the last time it was done.

Not yet, theyre in Glamis I think. I'm definately going to take it to him but top ends have to be done A LOT on these small 2 strokes. I can't afford to have a shop do it every time.

2-strokers are pretty simple. Do you have a torque wrench and know the torque specs?
Is the cylinder on a fresh bore, new piston and rings?
    If so:
Install rings on piston with gaps in rings not lined up then install on rod.
Install base gasket, slide cylinder down over piston. Install cylinder nuts and torque to spec using a criss cross pattern.
Install head gasket or o-ring, install head, torque nuts to spec in a criss cross pattern.
Install reeds, carb, water lines, any other brackets, fill radiator.

I can help you just let me know when, one thing that may catch you up on the cr is the RC valve depending on year, the cylinder head can crack during removal of the valve if the carbon is caked on.

The top ends are all based on hours of racing which is in the power band at all times, ridden hard put away wet kind of riding. If you run the correct ratio oil to fuel and quality oil, top ends last a lot longer on bikes that aren't raced but you do need to keep on top of checking clearances and play.

If you have a pic or two and a price, I'll ask around a few places.

I just picked up a 2004 CR125R. No idea of the history or what has actually been done.

This is the 2nd dirt bike ive owned and my first 2 stroke.

@iJonny I am definitely going to take it to gateway. I also want to learn to do the basics of maintaining these.

Used motor oil such a pain in the ass to clean up. Poured all my used oil into a 5 gallon bucket to take to a dump station. Little splatter on my driveway and instantly stained :annoyed:
