Oh man why is this the same week of the Baja 1000. I'm supposed to be in Ensenada that day. Keep you posted if that trip falls through! Great idea!

The only trails I for certain want to go through right now are Skyline Drive and Clarks Summit. Aside from that, 3N16 (north of Big Bear Lake) connects to many different trails.

What's wrong with Jaboy Canyon? If anyone has any pictures or videos that they've taken of Big Bear or has an experience that they'd like to talk about I guess now would be a good time to do so.

Up to Fawnskin? All of the trails that connect to Fawnskin are north of the town right?

Nothing. It's a fun and quick trail. I've done it several times. The last 2 times we have had a recovery mission. Both times were freak occurrences. Skyline is fun. No challenges whatsoever. I've actually seen a uhaul truck on that trail before. It's also very long if you run its entire length. Clarks Summit is a fun way to off road from about Jenks lake up to big bear lake. Burns Canyon is a lot of fun but high clearance and smart tire placement is mandatory. Grapevine Canyon was cool. A one and done trail for me unless I was going to camp at Horse Springs CG.

Yeah, what @goblue82 said. I wouldn't choose to do grapevine into fawnskin. Extremely long uphill silty sand/dirt switch backs with cliff on one side in a two wheel drive having to pin it all the way up doesn't sound fun to me. (Run on sentence, whoops)
Jacoby is fun. But I broke a spindle bolt there. Haven't done it since....
Skyline/clarks is easy and beautiful. Fun trail to stop and shoot the shit, have a beer and a sandwich. Would like to explore some more on the fawnskin side. I'll have to do some trail research this week

I'm a maybe along with some friends. We do have a lifted prerunner and a stock XJ (4wd) in our group. Seems to be 2wd friendly but will clearance be an issue for an XJ with no lift?

2002 Tacoma DC (lifted, 33's, 4x4, rear locker)
    1999 4runner (lifted, 33's, 4x4, rear locker)

We had a guy in a stock open diff taco do Jacoby canyon. Granted, he kinda just smashes his truck without a care, but made it through with no issue. There's some decent off camber sections on that trail. Skyline is a super mellow fire road type and clarks grade is fire road in most spots with some rocks here and there

Thanks for the info...we've (my truck and the 4runner) only been there a few times before and hit some pretty tough trails.

BTW - I'm down the road from Fiesta Island and will do my best to swing by this Saturday.
