I think installing an AAL would have been easier than removing the nuts to get this thing on. Worth it though..

It's all good. I'm old enough to already interpret "I may stop by" as "There's no fucking way I'm stopping by". :)

I am that's why I don't understand why your saying this. Actually the crankshaft isn't anywhere near the oil. It's a few inches above it. If the crankshaft did come in contact with the oil it would cause it to turn into foam and then the oil pump would be pumping air into the motor causing huge problems. This is why correct oil levels are important and racing engines that experience hi G forces have windage trays.

Ive never seen the inside of a toyota engine but I know with the engines I have seen the con rods have some sort of scoop to grab a little bit of oil... the CAT 3400 series has a scoop that uses force to inject oil under the piston crown to lubricate and cool the entire thing

When I replaced the oil pan on a 3406b I didn't see any... I'm telling you no part of the rotating assembly touches the oil in the pan. There may be some sort of "scoop" that catches oil coming from the oil passages and throws it up there. It's got to get up there to lubricate the wrist pin. And on the number one cylinder the oil pump and pickup tube would be in the way. Here's a rough cut away.

And as we all know, the Toyota 4.0L is a derivative of the CAT 3400..;)

Most engines uses the pressurized oil from the bearings/cranks though (different variations)
