Yup..! If you pull the trigger, you'll be happy..
They do not throw blue light... they are way better than stock...

 

They do fit perfect in the headlights assembly . I had to electrical tape the connectors just to make sure they allowed solid good connection

 

Well that sounds a lil shady

 

sounds more shady than it acutally is. my buddy got the same bulbs for his 2016 and he didn't have to do what i did. but they work and no issues.

 

Hey guys I just did the h11 to h9 bulb swap and I wanted to share it with you..
What I like most about this is totally oem look with more output

It noticeable the higher output now..

 

How difficult is it to do this H11 to H9 mod, and approximately how much time did it take?

 

The most difficult part was to modify the base of the h9 bulb to fit the h11 housing.. I wanted to cut it but in my case (brand of bulb) the base was mettalic and I ended trimming it with a dremel.. you also need to remove a piece of the connector that does not let you connect it to the h11 connector on your truck..

It took me about 10 mins to modify them and install them.

That is an impressive difference. Seems like it embarrasses many LED kits I have seen around here.

 

I'm waiting for tomorrow morning to see how does it perform.. i was impressed how bright they are... I've read a lot to see if that improvement of 10w more could damage the headlight or overload the wires and I found an article about this and the guy took very seriously a test on it and there's no issues with heat and power so I did it... no i have to see how much does this bulbs last, cuz they burn hotter they last less than h11..

I just did the h11 to h9 conversion and it is much much better. I tried like 3 dif LED bulbs and didnt like any of them. One was buzzing from the fan and didnt fit well and the others had less than expected output. The only option was HID but I wanted something plug and play with better output. The H9 conversion was easy and took about 3 min a bulb.

I needed a drill/bit
can of compressed air.

You will have to drill/cut (if you have a tool that cuts) the extra prong to match the h11. I didnt trim the flange that goes into the projector, all I did was insert the wider side first and slide it over a bit untill the other 2 flanges matched up. Then it would turn as normal. Infact I feel better this way because there is a lower chance of them popping out.

I dont have before pics, but we all know how crappy the OEM headlights look.

I ordered a super cheap h9 bulb from Amazon to practice on. 10 bucks for 4... In case I messed up. They have some "white" bulbs but they are not as powerful as the yellow bulbs due to tinting (both are better than stock bulbs)

I will prob upgrade to a better quality bulb when these burn out.

I haven't driven as much as I want at night.. but I turn them on at sunset and they are very bright.

I am very pleased with the results..

 

What did y'all cut the plastic tabwith? I can't get in there

 

Don't forget those H9's are usually rated for around 500hrs of use, vs 2000 hrs or so for an H11....so you should have that spare pair ready!

 

Hi man! I didn't understand your question.. what you are going to modify its the bulb.. I grinded it with a Dremel to make the h9 base look like the h11..

 

I agree with you, but in my case at this time of the year I almost don't drive at night and when the winter gets dark (February) I'll drive like 1 hour daily on weekdays so if I use 5 hours weekly, 20h/month, this bulbs should last 2 years.. and I'm good spending 40$ every two years in bulbs for the extra output.. thats my point of view..

 

Totally agree Just wanted to make sure you were properly informed. I think some folks get surprised by lack of longevity when they use high-output bulbs
