I got t-boned at 60 mph in my 2000 Tacoma. The other driver ran a red light at highway speed and I never saw it coming. I woke up with the truck rammed into a light pole on the other side of the intersection- so I had not only high-speed side impact but also front head-on impact into an unmovable object.

I recieved a concussion, some damage to my right leg when the hand brake handle dug into it, and a torn right rotator cuff. They had to cut me out of the truck. I don't remember a thing about it. By all rights I should have been mangled horribly.

Well- as ok as surgery and 6 months of physical therapy on the shoulder, plus possilbe surgery on the leg, can make me;) This happened in DEcember, I'm still undergoing treatment.
    But it beats the alternative!

Yo dude that's a hardcore wreck, I'm glad you're gonna be alright. I'm gonna give you some rep for telling us the details of the wreck, hopefully that will make you feel better.

I thought it was pertinent to the thread, even though mine was a 2000 and they're testing 2008's. They still build them tough;)
That was another reason I bought another Tacoma. If I could just get them to fix the tire-cupping poroblem I'd be thrilled.
Thanks for the rep- but I'm unclear on the rep game. Do I have to give rep to anyone who gives it to me?

Nope, you don't have to give rep to anybody unless you want to. I gave you some because I liked the nature of your post, and felt you deserved it.

I had a similar wreck last year too. I was entering the turnpike and hit some ice and flew over the curb and hit a UPS tractor trailer coming the other way. I thought I clipped 2 other cars, but I didn't. As I was walking down the on ramp to talk to the UPS driver, he asked if the driver of the truck needed and ambulance. I told him it was me and he told me he thought I was dead. $7k damage to my truck and then it gets bought back by Toyota for rust. I bought an 06 with the residual.

These trucks are built tough and that is why I bought another. Probably not as life threatening as ED R, but it definitely kept me out of the ambulance. I had a bump on the grape, thats it. The wife says I am nicer now so it may be worth it in the long run.

    Hey Klown,

When I was 8 years old, I built a bicycle ramp at the top of a steep hill. I got some major air, but I didn't land very well. I flew over the handlebars, landed on my back, and my bike ran over me. I came away with some bumps and bruises...no broken bones or open wounds...maybe a busted ego 'cause I was trying to impress some chicks. I had a busted handlebar and a bent wheel.

Can I get some rep. :D

Seriously, though, I'm with Klown...those are some pretty amazing stories of survival. Thanks for sharing!

Just a word of advise before somebody with some stroke chimes in, we're not allowed to ask for rep anymore.

I did however hook you up because of the bike crash story.

Everybody got rep because I damn well feel like it, even though Banchi seems to have a problem with dogs and food.

Heh-heh! You know it! Ya, I was dogsitting a greyhound once and it ate my burger off the table. Not that I trusted it to begin with, but my dog won't eat your food until you let him. Thanks for the rep...back at ya!

I got T-boned back in Sept. 1996 while taking dinner to my wife at work. An illegal immigrant and 2 buddies that were drunk ran a red light and totaled my Mazda p/u. The driver got away on leg bail but I managed to stop and hold his 2 amigos.

Spent the night in the hospital because of a concussion and messed up wrist. The 2 amigos were released after being cited and then never showed for court. Nor Cal AAA was cool, gave me a fair price for my 10 yr old truck, paid the hospiatl bills and gave me some cash for pain and suffering. W/O jacking up my rates.

Ed R glad to hear you are mending, I repped you too for surviving that and sharing it with us.
