That looks really good. I'd perhaps tweak the objective to be more specific for each job that you apply for though. Is there any relevant certifications that you could add to the education? Just "Study in business operations and management" doesn't really offer any info to the employer.

I was thinking about doing that too, but just didn't know if that was standard practice. I really don't have any certificates other than my AA and I'll be graduating in may with my BS from ASU...

I would remove costco and pizza hut from the resume.

 

-What job/industry are you applying to?
-Is your past experience relevant to the new job?
-Make sure you gear your skill set toward the new job, and not what you already know.

Other corrections I would make:

- HR personnel don't like long resumes because they have to scan a bunch of them, so the more concise, the better.

-Take out the objective, if they have your resume they know what your objective is.

 

I wouldn't add the fact that you have a passport unless it's a job that includes international travel. Someone else said take off Costco and Pizza Hut. That's probably a good idea unless you gained experience and/or skills specifically relevant to the job you are applying for.

 

cut down the #of jobs you have. Most people like to see that your a loyal employee. Having jobs for a month or two i don't think is important

Just being straight forward, and not a d***: I would leave out early job histories which lasted for only a few months. Most companies which will pay more tend to weed out what they call "job hoppers". During various positions, I have previously hired over a dozen employees myself, and looked over their resumes and intervieved them. The national average for a job is about three years, the last time I looked it up. Hey, I washed dishes as a second job when I was 18 for six months, but never put it on a resume, as there would be no positive result of listing it. Listing your positives helps you shine, good luck

 

I am a technical editor at an engineering firm and we work on resumes for proposals all the time. I've also done a lot of screening, interviewing, and hiring in the past.

Folks are posting some sound advice for you. Here are some more ideas:

Create a master resume that includes all employment. Keep this and add to it for the rest of your life.

Start every bullet or sentence with a verb. Supervised this, Executed that, Anaylzed this, Processed that, Performed this...

Then, as you apply for specific jobs/postions, make a copy of your master resume and cut it down to focus it specifically for the job for which you are applying. The roles and skills must be a good match. If they aren't, the hiring manager (or clueless HR hiring assistant) will toss it aside and get on with the huge stack of other resumes.

Next, you must have a cover letter (or equivalent in your e-mail message) in addition to the resume. The cover letter should reveal things about you that a resume can't, like why you are interested (and hopefully excited) about the job, why you would be a good fit for them, and also why they would be a good fit for you (employment is a two way street). What is your attitude about work? What have past managers/supervisors said about you? Reveal what you know about the hiring company to show that you actually have a clue about who they are and what they do. This helps them picture you fitting in rather than just being on a job-fishing expedition. You need to sell yourself and set yourself apart from the other applicants.

In the letter, specifically request the opportunity for an interview.

I know that many people don't like writing all this stuff up, but it needs to be done—these days more than ever. I hope these ideas help make it easier for you.

Good luck man, I went through this same process last june/july and finally landed a good job in november. Be paitent and if all else fails there's always the military

 

I would also recommend you try to highlight one specific accomplishment from each job if at all possible.

For instance, you have listed "Created new method of tracking invoices" under Honeywell."

Is there a measurement you can attach to that? Such as "reduced outstanding 60-day balances by 30% by creating new method of tracking invoices." Anybody can create a new method of doing something- you want to show that you improve upon things.
