So if you get a 6 inch, wouldn't you want 9 inch lift then?

Once you get the Tacoma you'll want a tundra. Knowing you, go big or go home bro.

Yea dude, take the thing off road. Depending on how you wheel it, then determine if you need to spend the money on upgrades. Just know, this site is LETHAL though, and its easy to want to add stuff to your truck hah. I had a plan going from the day I brought mine home a few months ago, since then I would say I'm close to 10k on mods.

Don't buy used because resale value of Toyotas are high unless you want the 4L engine. Dont get 6" lift because it doesn't do you any good unless you want to go 35" or 37" tires which would need regear. When off roading you want the highest clearance possible... so the only factor is tires size since your diff is always the lowest point. Anything over 3" gets really expensive and you can stuff 35" tires on a 3" lift if you know what your doing. Do not get dealers to install lift bc they will use crap products like spacers and blocks and charge you an arm and leg. Do your research before buying lifts especially since you are coming from a car.

    Agreed.

From my 16 TRD OR I went to 17 TRD Pro. I really want a Tundra, double cab, 8 feet bed instead. Lack of 3 pedals is keeping me away, but the 5.7L is orgasmic and the 8 feet bed, oooh la la. Real truck. None of my 5 feet bed, asian penis syndrome

I switched from an X5 to my Tacoma, I also have 2 motorcycles. If you plan on hauling your bikes around I would not consider a lift. I have a Stock TRD OR DCLB and I'm able to haul both my bikes to the track or go off-roading in the many trails outside L.A.

I recommend you get the truck, get some skids and enjoy it. If you feel like crawling over larger obstacles then consider a lift, there are many options for that. Keep in mind, you may have trouble loading your bikes after you get a lift kit.

Agree with the comments above, only go with a new Tacoma, unless you love the 4.0 over the 3.5. Go with a 17, as they don't seem to have the rear end issues that some 16's have. EVERY lift kit voids the warranty on the parts it affects, for every manufacturer, no matter where it's done. It won't void the warranty on your air conditioner, but likely will on anything suspension and transmission related. It depends on the repair, and if the manufacturer thinks the lift contributed to the failure. Dealerships will put lift kits and sell them, and people ASSUME that it doesn't void the warranty, but it does. Toyota does not make a lift kit. A quality lift kit will probably not wear the factory parts out prematurely, but a good quality lift kit isn't cheap.

I remember shopping for my Tacoma, there were some dealers that would install generic lift kits and mark them up 'bigly'.. glad I skipped out on them.

Get the TRD Pro you will be happier coming from a BMW. It will take you anywhere you want to go as is. Drive it for a couple of years and then make the decision whether to pump it up or trade it in. The stock Tacoma is high enough adding 6 inches to it will grow old fast.
