When we go out we normally use CB's and a few guys use handheld walkies but CB's are the most reliable in my opinion. I just ordered two handheld walkies for emergency use to keep in the car. I wonder if there's a way to wire the charging bases to run off 12V

Above is the list of folks currently interested in the Sunday 11/6 wheelin' trip to Nepaug State Forest. Looking like a potentially awesome turnout! As far as meeting location/time, it looks like there is a diner super close to the trail entrance (1/4mile ish) we can meet at. Depending on how far everyone is traveling to get here (I'm about 45min), and how long everyone wants to wheel, we can either meet at like 10am and pack lunch, or hit the trail around noon. I'm open to suggestions for timing.

As far as communication goes, I've never been on a large group trail ride, so I don't have a CB and don't plan on having one before Sunday. As long as the leader and someone in the middle and rear have radios (CB, 2-way, whatever) we should be alright I would think.

Here is a link to the trail map. Satan's Kingdom is supposed to be a pretty good ride, and has a badass name. The rest of the trails look great too and probably have plenty of little offshoots for us to try.

I'd prefer around noon but if everyone else says 10AM is fine, I'll make that work. Pumped for Sunday. I don't have a CB either, trails are pretty straightforward from what I recall. A few tough ones due to pitch but those are offshoots from the main trail.

I've probably got one of if not the longest ride to and from, at a little over 2 hours (at the speed limit of course) and 10am works for me. As far as communication goes, I usually honk and wave obnoxiously until the necessary amount of attention is paid.

@Sween224 and I are locals of each other so we might come together and we got like a 2 - 2:15 hr ride. but I've got a heavy foot. I wouldn't mind 10 o'clock. we'll see if he chimes in.
As for a cb, I think I can scrounge one together for the weekend.

Yeehaaw I'm pretty pumped I have a cb but it's not hooked up at the moment that's my goal for the week to at least have it operating for the ride I can get the rest fancyed up afterwards. I'm not far from nepaug but not sure exactly how long it's gonna take me to get there. I think it's like 45 mins but could be wrong I'll check that out. More importantly does anyone have any decent rrecovery gear.? I'm going to try and pick up a few things before Sunday like at least a two rope, a ttire repair kit, a fire extinguisher, a ccouple other straps, and I doubt that it will arrive by Sunday but w/e a high lift jack.

As for recovery gear, I've got a tow rope and a massive ratchet and strap that can be used as a secondary strap. I don't have a tire repair kit, because I'm gonna use one with 10-plys right? Itherwise I have the usual garage tools: floor jacks, jack stands, tire iron, breaker bar. Anyone have onboard air or should i bring my compressor?

I have a Gopro and new tires... And that's about it:hattip: I've been thinking about picking up a pair of walkie talkies to have around just incase. So if anyone thinks there is a need I can do that.
