Media Communication with a minor in Web Development, truthfully not married to either of them. Web Development is a hobby so it made sense and Media Communication was the least time consuming option that I could see coming in handy later (involves a lot of leadership and MGMT courses). I plan to go right from here to automotive technical school to specialize in diagnostics.

In. Done it twice. It's easy in a first ten. Just gotta pay attention. Super fun.

Knew it would never see the light of day. Called it haha

It saw plenty of light, rain, and wind as I transported the pieces home. :blahblah:

Interesting path haha. I enjoyed web design and thought long and hard about going to school for it. Sadly, it's a dying field but still extremely useful understand. Do you have any background with Python? I am leading myself more heavily into data analysis in hopes to eventually make it into consulting or slip into a biologist position. Never thought I would be writing code when I decided on Wildlife/Fisheries management but R has kept me busy for quite some time. I have a intro to python book waiting to be read over xmas break.

Yeah I've taken a couple classes in Python. It is a great language to begin with and I believe I still have the PDF of my python book somewhere. I think I even have my projects from that class, I thought it was a fun language. Especially compared to Java, it only gets a bit tricky when you start to learn File IO.

I am a Wildlife Biology major, I'll be changing it, but the really good gigs are the consulting ones. I know some people that start their own business and will have like 3 or 4 big clients that they work with. Definitely some money their if you have experience and play your cards right.

The problem is getting the experience. Most only hire people with a masters because of legal reasons. I can get a job with the Feds pretty easy but that's a depressing environment.

Yep am "certified" as of the first year they started offering it. Remote sensing was my favorite class. We had access to all kinds of awesome up to date satellite imagery to play with being part of a U. I doubt they use the same book for that class but if they do you're welcome to borrow mine. The process was like obtaining a minor kind of. I just had to cover the credits required for the "certification" and they handed it to me. Being a geography major I had 90% of the credits. Your situation may not make it so easy. But there's nothing super hard about it, just work, and understanding the software. It's great skill to have, helps you understand databases better as well since that's a big part of GIS. aka Get.It.Surveyed :D as I now like to say being a surveyor.

I thought GIS meant "Guaranteed Income Source".

I'll have to look up the cert requirements and see what I can do.

I love how jberry always posts about getting stuff from relentless same day but every other customer waits forever. Guess having a buddy and living near by helps...

Totally! I went through this on my old '99 as well except that I bought all of the pieces and welded it together myself and saved a few hundred. This time I'm letting him build it. I'm patient, so no biggie.

SO besides Saratoga, where else would be a fun weekend trip to take the gf? We were thinking of going to Saratoga for the hot springs, someone mentioned Lander had some too. Just something to do before weather gets to shitty for traveling. We haven't done much since she moved here.

If I remember right a guy I helped out one day on the side of the road while in Rawlings said he owned like a Dairy Queen like restaurant in Lander and I could get some free ice cream...

Thermop would be fun if you paired the hot springs with the dinosaur museum. They have an Archaeopteryx fossil on display (transition from dino to bird) and I believe it's the only one you can see in the United States (the rest are near europe I think). Quite a bit of drama surrounding as to how it ended up in Thermopolis but the rest of the museum is also well done and worth the trip.

The museum is pretty sweet, and the whole town is nicer than quite a few in Wyoming. one of the only others I would consider living in if it wasn't so small.
