I have a 2013 6 cy double cab tacoma, 43,000 miles. This is my second tacoma, bought new.

Dealer tells me that I should:
    Replace drive belts
    clean throttle body
service power steering unit and replace all fluid.
    Replace all brake fluid
    Tune up

    $763 for the above.

I am an old shade tree mechanic. I am feeling that 43,000 miles is "hardly
out of the showroom". Why should I be doing all of this?

    Any comments?

    Thanks

Pretty sure you don't need to replace any drive belts unless they are looking cracked for some reason.
Cleaning the throttle body is pretty easy if you already have the covers off for spark plug replacement.
Doubt you need to service the power steering unit. I would do the front/rear diffs if they haven't been done.
Doubt you need to replace all brake fluid.
"Tune Up" should just be spark plugs (30k service).

^^agreed. I would also suggest you look over the maintenance book/ log that came with your owner's manual. Welcome to TW.

I have a 2009 with 73k on it and I am on my original brake fluids. I doubt yours needs replacing.

@Marbleharbor I'd do the spark plugs myself, if that's something you feel comfortable doing. Should't take you more than 3 hours and you go from spending more than a hundred to about $25. As gkomo said, cleaning the throttle body is optional, but easy if you're doing plugs. Everything else besides the brake fluid is symptom based. If it ain't broke, dont fuck with it. Brak fluid is something I do every 10-15k to preserve my notorious front lower caliper pistons. those things freeze up if you just look at them funny.

Good luck and welcome to TW!

Let me sum it up for you: Your service rep is a greedy pig. Like others have said just check the manual. Plugs should be done but I know plenty of guys with 100K+ miles on same plugs.

I will most likely do everything on the list at 30K except the drive belt, not because it needs it but due to the fact that I can do it my self for just a few bucks. And I just like working on my truck.

I have 52k on my Tacoma and I haven't done anything besides change oil and air filters. I doubt any of that stuff really makes a difference this early in the truck's life
