actually, now that I remember, I changed my address for my DL online, then went to some random MVD and told them that I had moved and didnt remember until I had my mail forwarded to the new place.

Not screwed, just have to be confident when you lie to people lol

I would but I have to pass emissions before it will let me change the address when I called the DMV. If I'd of changed everything before emissions was required I'd be ok.

However, I got it to pass.

    All it took was

    • 2 sticks of hot glue
    • JB Weld
    • Black Spray Paint
    • 2 Wooden Paint stir sticks
    • Some duct tape
    • and a little bit of a distraction.

    So what I did.

Took the paint stir sticks and made it long enough where it wedged the adapter all the way forward.
    Glued and taped them together.
Used JB weld (dyed it black) and put it on the OBDII plug and put it back into it's home.
Glued the wood stick to the back of it, wedged it up into the firewall so it didn't move. I also painted the stick black.
After everything dried I put the cap over the OBDII cover, hit it with some black spray paint. Let it dry.

Go to DMV testing, I went to another location. This time it was a younger kid doing the testing. I pulled up and he complimented my truck and said he loves Tacoma's. Then I got an idea.

I said "I love these trucks too. So much that I can plug in an OBDII scanner without looking so I know I got you beat there".

Sure enough he looked right at me, plugged the scanner in without looking at all and lucky for me my patch work held up. I admitted he's better than I am at that. We ran the test, talked a bit and I got my passing paperwork. He never checked the OBDII plug at all thankfully but at one point looked like he was. So I asked him some random question about a tattoo on his arm.

So that was a fun 4 hours of my day.

Sucks that it took so much time. But thankfully it passed without trouble.

Now that youre done, change that address.

As a bonus though, ask them to leave your mailing address the same, because that's your mom's place and she collects your mail while you're out of the country doing humanitarian work.

Yup I'll be changing the address over to my cabin in Payson but having it mail everything here at my house. I can't risk this shit again.

Be careful registering your vehicle elsewhere, to avoid emissions. When I worked for the Chandler schools, PD were go through the employee parking at every school looking for tag violations, such as out of county registration. There are some rules about it. I am not up on all them, but they look for people that do that thing. Something about work to living ratio and stuff. Not saying it isn't a great option, but just be careful. Also some HOA Nazis have rules against it too.

Thanks for the info. Since I work from home and I really don't drive my truck much I should be ok. I own the cabin in Payson and it is my 'second home' so I don't think I'll run into issues. And lucky for me, no HOA's. I won't own a house that has an HOA>

I just want people to know that depending on were they work or live, so asshat might be trying to get them. Nothing like getting pulled out of a meeting to talk to officer "friendly". I saw it happen, teacher had been here almost a year and got ticketed for failure to register within the required time.

For something that isn't your DD, I doubt they would ever have cause to investigate.

My truck is registered in Coconino County, literally to a mailbox in the middle of nowhere. Never had an issue.
