Search has not led me to anything concrete unless I suck at searching.

I'm here to find out if there are any options / start discussion on having Push-to-Start for the Tacoma's with 6-Speed Manuals. Going to order my TRD Pro in January...

From doing my own search I have not been able to find anything on push-to-start and IMO it's ridiculous that it's not included. My current car is a '14 A4 6-speed and it's got push-to-start. The difference is you clutch and brake to start the engine vs brake only on automatics.

Different, but related topic, there are after market REMOTE-starters available, but you are still required to put the key in and turn to ACC to get moving.

You're correct it's not an option and the reason being, as I was told, was the clutchless start requires the key to act as mechanism for engaging the functionality until you're moving, where the push button cannot.

Yup clutch start cancel. How do you bump start your Audi with a dead battery?

The manual has a key for bumping the starter in certain off road situations.

On a dead battery, I should have enough juice for ACC mode then roll the car and clutch kick it like you would with any manual car. If the battery is completely dead, charge until you can turn on ACC mode then clutch kick. I don't know if you can do it without ACC mode as I've never tried it.

My 2013 focus st has push button start and proximity key.. for over 10k less than what I'm about to pay for my 2017 Tacoma.

I understand the starter bumping in off-road situations (though I think they could have come up with something better in practice). But I'm a little miffed about the proximity thing. I will miss that greatly. Never having to take your keys out of your pocket or bag to get in your vehicle is a simple but AWESOME thing.

    Get it together Toyota. :annoyed:

I had a push to start truck back in high school. A friend would push the truck, I would pop the clutch and start it.

    He was a good friend.

You guys buy a manual knowing it doesn't have certain features and then bitch about it after the fact.

He hasn't bought one yet, silly. He's researching it and isn't happy that he can't get a manual with a push start.

Pretty sure the 2017 has it now in the manual. i'll have to double check, but I thought it said standard on the TRD Pro when I was comparing it to TRD OR on Toyota website.

Exactly, silly. First, buy a manual. Then read the manual. Then have a friend push that 3rd Gen down a hill and you pop the clutch to start. Easy.

Be sure to bring a friend to read the manual and TSBs. Oh, and push to start.

Now get out there and start exploring!

It does say standard, but it also said standard for the 2016 TRD off road. Once you get a manual though, you'll lose the push start. If you happened to stall while climbing a steep hill, you'll be glad you have a key, that's about it.
