I pay a lot of money for Porsche to give me silly door straps instead of handles. Just like I paid them more not to give me an AC. Then again I bought an Off Road 6MT instead of a SR. And THEN I bought a TRD PRO 6MT. Man I must be the biggest tool

The clutch start disable vs push start is some stupid bullshit a lawyer somewhere made up. There's no good reason for them not to coexist. If you are push-starting you use the clutch.

And to think: you actually took a pic of the door strap and took the time to post it. Brilliant!

True things are often funny. I can have a SR 4 door for 25K. Paying 20k extra for what? So I can go to Starbucks in my Pro. America.

At least I didn't pay $9Million for a license plate and own 6 rolls royces like the guy in the news.

I actually did put the deposit down on the truck before knowing this. I learned after and decided I still wanted the manual.. but I'm no less disappointed. I am pro stick shift all the way and had to support them selling a truck with it. I'm excited about it, but HATE that it won't have a proximity key.. I think I can live without it..

    Tim,

After you get your PRO, only proximity you will be worrying about is all the Tacoma BROS at gas station drooling and asking "Is that a REAL PRO"

Per research from Toyota, average Tacoma owner spends $10k on their brand new truck accessorizing it. And if you see how many owners here put brand new tires day after they get the truck, research bores it out.

I am a BRA, I don't need K02, since all they do is stare at my cleavage.

$10k seems about right. Had my truck a year today. On its 5th set of tires, wheels, lift, control arms, sliders, lighting, etc.

Just want to clarify, we're talking about the the proximity sensor about being standard?
I know I lose the push-to-start with the manual, that's the point of my OP. If I stall climbing a steep hill, I can start it with pushing a button with the clutch in. Am I missing something?

To the rest that bother to read or understand, I'm not bitching, i'm just trying to understand why P-t-S is not a thing for the manuals. It's not a deal breaker, I'm just used to having a P-t-S with a manual today. I'm trying to imagine a scenario between my current car and what I plan on ordering, a TRD Pro, where a key makes a difference in the ability to start/stop the engine. Stalling

I'm getting the TRD Pro because it's purrrrrrtty and I can do things with it like get groceries and the occasional off-roading.. that's what it's for right? And that's ok with you guys right? I have permission? LOL

The clutch start disable button just overrides the 'depress clutch to start' safety feature. You still need to turn the key. You just don't need to 'three foot it' on the clutch, brake and accelerator.

Hard to stall an auto, just saying.
