I appreciate it, and may revisit the idea closer to time, however I want the trailer more than the actual tent, as I plan on carrying two spare tires with me and could use the storage.

If im not deployed, when you get to seatle, jen and heather can do whatever and we can do a day trip somewhere. There are 5-7 areas withing 1.5 hrs driving time from where im living.

either way, you have a place to stay if needed at our house.

Sounds like you won't be there, which is a huge boohoo for me. My plan is to leave sometime towards the beginning of June, which would put me there around the 3rd week of June.

While I was in the Army, I did a color guard duty (during bicentennial 1976) at Ft Abraham Lincoln @ Mandan North Dakota for 3 months. That was Gen G Custer's 7th Cav command post when he set out to Little Big Horn. (I was in 7th Cav) Little Big Horn was in 1876.....We did the 100th anniversary of that AND the 200th anniversary of the US. I'd get 3 days off/10 days on duty. On a couple occasions, we made the trek over to Badlands and once to Rushmore. Badlands is so stark, yet so incredibly beautiful.

    It never efffing ends.....

I'll likely think of others, as I have been to most of these places. I traveled 2-3 weeks a month at my previous job, as my territory was the entire western US, west of Nebraska/Kansas. Also, this past summer, I did a two week trip to Colorado, I was racing the Leadville 50/50. 50 miles mountain biking on Saturday, followed by 50 miles running on Sunday. Anyhow, one place I would add to your list is Santa Fe, NM. You could hit it on the leg between Colorado Springs or Pueblo.

Another couple that come to mind is Hood River, OR, Bend, OR, Klamath Falls, OR (close to Crater Lake). All three are very unique in there own special ways, but some of the best places I've ever visits. I would so live in either of these towns. You could easily divert your trip away from I5 south of Portland over to Hwy 97 and ultimately still get dumped out into Northern California. It will be so much more scenic and rewarding too.

In SoCal. Huntington Beach is ok, but definitely hit Laguna Beach and Del Mar (a little tiny beach town--I love this place) and La Jolla (drive there in the early morning, as it is usually covered in a fog bank).

That is a very extensive list and I'm sure I'll think of several more. Those are just a few that come to mind . . .

The RTT is from FrontRunner, and the bed bars are from Mobtown. I got the bed bars first to increase what I could fit in the truck, then I got the RTT.

Thanks for the suggestions. I didn't mention it, but the plan from Seattle is to head west to the coast, then go south along the coast until we head inland to Portland. Same plan for heading south into CA. We have friends in Portland, and family in San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Manhattan Beach (which I also didn't mention, but we're taking the PCH from Monterey to SB, and SB into Santa Monica, then heading to HB). Friends in HB and San Diego also. Needless to say I spend a lot of time in CA, especially southern, so these stops are moreso just to visit family and friends since we'll be in the area. My wife grew up in SB which is why she's joining us for that leg of the trip. I prefer Ocean Beach to La Jolla, except the seals are fun to go see. We'll add Santa Fe to the trip depending on how timing goes. That section of the trip is pretty loose with no real time table.

    I did :anonymous:
add a circuit with 3A fuse for hood lights, bed lights, and glove box light
had a short somewhere when I made the hood lights, toasted the whole strand. even after I f'd that up, I still only have about $40 invested in all of them. SOOOO much cheaper to do yourself...
