That sounds pretty cool actually. We would probably just go for a day/night trip then head back so we don't have to leave the dog anywhere for to long. Just kinda bum around and check out a town and get a hotel or something. That why I was thinking Saratoga because my boss mentioned they have a cool hotel with the giant hot spring and stuff.

The burden of having multiple vehicles to drive means that I don't drive it every day, but when I do it's parked by my shop on 3rd & University Ave. Swing by some time!

If you do get over by Saratoga, Encampment/Riverside and Battle Mountain are close. I'm sure most of the leaves have fallen but Aspen Alley is very nice and very accessible.

    @BossFoss

Sick job on the 5speed swap. Wish I had been able to snag that 4Runner so I could do that this weekend to Igor. Missed the manual a lot of this trip. But enjoyed the auto at times.

Big difference between bed rack cross bars that are sitting in inventory vs bumpers.

It's sad he doesn't sell diy parts anymore. I need some rear bumper mount brackets again. @RelentlessFab

While they were pretty popular and we liked to give the option to people, in the end it doesnt really make sense for us to do them. By taking them out of our work load and focusing on fully built bumpers (along with a bit of expansion) we've reduced the fully completed bumpers lead time from 5-6 months down to around 6 weeks right now.
We also had a few guys attempt to copy our designs and resell them(or people threaten to order 1 kit and copy the design if we wouldnt just offer to sell them the CAD file 'to just cut once to avoid shipping costs' :rolleyes.) and we just arent interested in having that exposure and trying to deal with issues like that which was one of the key deciding factors of removing the DIY's from our line.

Like hawks in here. I don't know what he has in inventory. Took a while to get my bed bars back in the day when I first got my tent. Not knocking relentless' product at all, Eric does great work, that I think we can all agree on.

I didn't know what he had in inventory either. That's why I called and found out, and drove down when he said he had them. They were still the prototype bars, but it's fine for what I needed.
Only reason I replied to start with is you certainly insinuated that I cut in front of people or something to get parts, which frankly is bullshit. I wait just as much as anyone else. If parts I want are in stock, it's no different from you or anyone else picking up the phone. The main difference is I don't publicly bitch or complain about lead/wait times. Hell I rarely even post when I buy <insert part here> unless someone directly asks me or until I've got a tracking number or it's ready to be picked up. I don't have a millennial mentality.

ahhh interesting. And sad. But understandable.

I was mostly missing the spare tire mount and rear bumper brackets to fab my own :p haha

But yea. That's too bad. Was a cool part of what you offered, but you had good reason too.

Guess ill just have to manage with my plasma torch haha

I got lucky on my old Tacoma and got one of the DIY kits when they first came out. Loved the idea of it and was nice to build it myself. Gives you a little more pride that you built it, as well as just more fun IMO. Can definitely understand why Eric is choosing to not do them anymore from a business point though.

I used to fab Do-It-Yourself lift shackles back in the day for Ford Rangers and Mazda p/u's, etc. I had to stop because of the insurance liabilities and I'm sure having others weld your product together, that there may be some liability also, but that's an assumption. His state may be different.

 I am aware of what my comment insinuated and it was a bit rude of me to get so acute with the comment. The basis for the comment comes from your way of posting about parts from Relentless. It usually seemed like there was no wait (not just talking about recently), but given what you just said above i understand why i took it that way.

If you guys were building tire carrier for a bumper would you offset the tire to either side or center it, and what would your reasoning be? Seems like there's a pretty even split of both on most production bumpers.

    I guess that's why I'm asking, I don't really know what I "need"
With a centered tire your other storage options would be limited. I don't have the need to carry extra fuel now, but with an offset the option would always be there. I also just had the thought of how much more a centered tire paired with the tent would block the rear view mirror. I suppose I just answered my own question.

You can kiss the rear view mirror good bye no matter what.

If you center the tire should be room for a Jerry can on each side of it even with a 35" tire.

So literally it's a taste thing.

I like the tire near the spindle due to weight. But two Jerry cans full of fluid is super heavy too.

    Just a personal choice really.
