I got a question for you guys. I have decided in Icon for the front coilovers. I will be using the Dakar pack for the rear. I am going to be honest and say I will be on the street 95% of the time. When I do off road it will be slow, no high speed anything for me. I already have a cbi T3 bumper in aluminum and it will be getting a winch. Mobtown sliders, a pelfrey high clearance rear, and full skids will round out the armor. Bed usually empty, occasionally haul camping gear.

So with that, what stage should I really be looking at. I used to run a 85 4Runner crawler. 4" lift 14" travel bilstein piggy back. It rode really well, I miss it but it wasn't practical for the family. This will be much more family oriented.

    Thanks

    Looks great!

Reading your other post, what did you mean about the leaf packs? Did you install them how they came, or did you remove anything from them like most do?

I'm trying to determine if using the 888's will it sit high in the rear using the Dakar leafs the way they were shipped or if I need to remove something from them. Looking for mostly level/factory rake vs. being high in the front. I can't deal with the front being higher.

I don't like the bro stance either. I ordered the OME Dakar leafs and so I removed the stock ones and replaced it with the OME ones. I received two positive ones so I think I got a little more lift in the rear. I haven't measured everything yet cause I made a mistake and didn't notice the trim packer and installed the front shock with the trim packer on the passengers side when it needs to be on the drivers side. Rookie mistake.
Let me know if that helps or if you need me to clarify.

Think so! Seems some remove a leaf, have not messed with it yet so I have no idea what is really involved in what they are talking about. Just trying to avoid my one end being extremely higher than the other.

    I didn't remove a leaf.

I am waiting for things to settle and then seeing what needs adjustments. Hopefully not too much tweaking required.

    Question for those using 5100's?

Why the 5100's set at 0 vs the OME shocks included in the kit? Are 5100's even at 0 giving extra lift that the OME's are not. Sorry for the dumb question.

Using an 888 coil on a 5100 at 0 seems to get 3" of lift based on results posted. The same 888 coil on non adjustable OME shocks seems to get about 2" of lift based on results posted. Basically the 5100 preloads the 888 a little more which results in more lift. 5100 set at 0 with an 888 coil is what I'll be running come spring to replace my bolt on spacer lift up front.

If that's the case, I just payed more for less lift.....

Thinking seriously about scrapping this whole thing before it even gets put on. Went OME due to the long backorder on toytec boss 2.0.

I really don't see the value in the higher dollar kits. Bilstein makes great products and so does OME at a fraction of the price. Be realistic, you really think you'll notice the difference between a $2000 pair of fancy reservoir shocks and a $200 pair of Bilstein shocks? Maybe, maybe not, there sure as hell won't be a difference worth $1800 though and you'll never utilize their potential on a street driven or even weekend wheeled truck. To each his own but it's a waste of money IMO

The general consensus was the ome rode better than the 5100 in all the hours I spent over analyzing the info on here.

I've heard the same and it's very possible. The OME stuff is very nice and with a small top spacer you can achieve the same lift. Personally I'm not going to buy new shocks and springs just to have to continue running a spacer and I refuse to hack up my brand new truck with a CMC, not happening. Currently I have just a cheap bolt on top spacer which gave me 3" of lift. I clear my 285/75/16 tires on stock 16x7 rims with a 1.25" Spidertrax spacer with zero rubbing and zero cutting. I expect the same results with the 5100/888

Those that do actual off-roading will see that $1800 difference...those that enjoy mall crawling will not see that difference...which is why ICON and FOX are considered TRUE off road suspension...If I could afford ICON at this time, they would have without a doubt been going on my TRD OR...but since I can't, went with 5100's on 887 coils set to .85. At this time, don't do much off roading other than to snag a deer out of the mountains...but will be in the future (Once i can afford my fancy ICON kit)

The fact is they are significantly better but from an opinion stand point it just depends how much you value the coin and how much you value suspension performance.

This debate is precisely why I split the middle and went with the 6112/5160 combo with a 3 leaf AAL. Noticeably better performance off-road, modest lift and within a good price point. I don't 'hard core' off road as a hobby in of itself, but I travel a piss-pile of forest roads, trails, BLM land, ranch lands, haul my dogs for bird hunting, camping, hiking, fishing, tow my boat... general outdoors crap.

I'm currently running OME 887 with Bilstein 5100's at 0". After taking it offroad a few times my front suspension is now extremely loud while going over bumps. Makes a low pitch squeak, almost sounds like a crunch. Took it to the off-road shop and they said it's likely due to mixing OME with Bilstein. Anyone running this setup notice the same thing?

I don't disagree with that at all. If i wheeled regularly or really at all, I'd spend more. My truck sees street use 99.9% of the time and will probably see less than 5000 miles a year. For my personal use, the Bilstein shocks and 888 coils are more than I need. I didn't lift my truck for off road performance reasons. I lifted it because it looked ridiculous in stock form. I loved it that's why I bought it but it was just too short. I'm 6'2" 235 pounds, I want to feel like I'm driving a truck not a glorified car. Hope that makes sense lol

    Thanks!
So, They're actually 275/70/17 I believe. They just look good. I did quite a bit of research before lifting with what looks good together. I think a lot of it has to do with the wheels actually. Getting the right backspacing and offset really helps them stand out. These wheels had the best combo with the tires I chose.

What are the pros and cons of lifting? I just got a 2016 Tacoma Sport and I'm thinking about putting a 4 inch lift on it.
