I have the NeoAir Trekker version of this (essentially the heavier and less insulated version) in long size and it is very comfortable. I am also a side sleeper.

I looked them up, and apparently the Trekker is the exact same weight, just only at a 3.0 R value.

Also, they sell that valve that you can make any bag into an inflator bag with. I will probably get that and convert my stuff sack.

I've been looking at pads too. Planned to buy 2 and use the down matress combiner to hook them together when needed.

Has anyone seen or used one of the Thermarest Corus HD quilts?

You're on the right track by looking at quilts. I don't have any personal experience with theirs, but I can say that there are much better quilt options out there for just a little more. I saw the 35 degree rating for the "average man" and thought it was too high, and the length is too short.

Just got back from 3 nights in the Grand Canyon. What a great time! First day down South Kaibab took a little longer than we thought, so we simply threw down our ground cloths and sleeping bags, and slept under the stars. Enjoyed it so much we did it all 3 nights. Hike down and back up might have been the most difficult thing I've ever done. Unbelievable experience.

Hey guys what's the best sleeping bag for a decent price? Mainly 40-50 degree weather but in the winter I go to Yosemite and plan to go to Alaska next summer so 0-20 degree is what I'm looking for

Also, are you a side sleeper? If so, a mummy may not work well. I'm a side sleeper and still use mummy bags for now, but will be moving to a quilt or a Sierra Designs Backcountry Bed.

If not, I use a Kelty Cosmic Down 20 right now for colder weather and it works fine. It's not ultralight or anything, but weighs about 45 ounces in long size, and 41 ounces in regular. I found mine on sale for about $125.

For that price, you should look at the 0 degree Teton bags. Super comfy and old school rectangular style. NOT a backpacking bag unless you don't mind carrying an 8# bulky bag. You'll be hard pressed to find a 0 degree backpacking bag for under $200, and likely more.

I am sort of going through the same predicament now. I will probably get a 20-30 degree bag/quilt. I've been looking at the following:

    Sierra Designs Backcountry Bed

    Sierra Designs Backcountry Quilt

    Nemo Salsa 30

    Jacks R Better Sierra Sniveller

    Hammock Gear Burrow 20

    Mid-Atlantic Mountain Works Marcy 20

    UGQ Flightjacket or Renegade

And some others that I forgot about
