What the Heck is wrong with the Glove Box...???? Never heard of something so trivial.. I have 4 pairs of gloves in there with all the manuals, fuses, lug key, candies, etc....

Ps.. I got the sun roof also, but be prepared... it cuts the rear seat headroom BIG time..!

I went from a 2006 Sport DCSB Prerunner to a 2016 Sport DCLB 4x4. Basically, on paper, an upgrade in every way possible. I loved the 2006 in most ways. It was a solid truck. Just lacked bed space and the 4x4. I made sure that if I was buying new I wasn't gonna bitch out on my options. I got all the fixins like the sunroof and JBL audio. Why? Because I wanted to make damn sure that it was a real upgrade in every way possible. I wanted surprises. I wanted gadgets. I wanted to feel like I stepped up big. You know what? I feel that way. When I drove that long bed bitch home, I had such a smile on my face (the road head from the little brunette next to me surely helped but that's a whole 'nother story.) I love it man. I love being a Tacoma owner. The fit and finish is real nice. Go big or go home. If you're worried about the audio, just get the good one. Good luck.

Ps. The glove box is kinda bullshit. It basically fits my truck paperwork, Dunkies napkins and iPod.

What else do you usually keep in your glovebox?

Touch up paint, insurance papers,Micro fibre cloth, gloves when the snow flies, snow scraper.Air freshener, napkins,Change for parking meters,Air pressure guage. original owners book, and more . To me the glove box is cheap and is quite frankly a joke. But i notice small details and am pretty picky about my vehicles. Hence the thread . :)

My two sports cars have no glovebox, so I guess I am used to it.

I carry quick detail, tire pressure gauge, registration insurance, one microfiber.

If it rains, I don't take my vehicles outside.
    Snow isn't an issue.

Go look at a 2004 Lexus LS430, and tell me about how quality their paint job is.

That said, goes back to earlier question. Where did I mention paint? I said quality.

My 1967 Mini paint (original ) looks better than a my 2017 Pro. Doesn't mean the Mini is better built. Time to put you on ignore.

Are you imagining what it was like when the rust wasn't there and metal use to be also on the frame ?

With today's machining capabilities and computer welding, better steel used I don't believe it, sorry.

The 2nd gen taco glove box has a shock absorber FFS. :) And it had sides to contain things.

No? Ever take your truck off road ? Drive up an incline , open your glove box and everything spills out on the floor? Drive on rough fire roads, open your glove box and everything spills on the floor? Seriously. Its a 4x4 and some people use them as 4x4. Glove box is a joke. Plain and simple. It wont stop me from buying one.

Maybe they should just make a sticker to place on the glove box that says....

I don't know what you guys are arguing about, but the '16 Taco's factory paint job is shit. Not to be confused with the shit. Just shit. All of my earlier cars had much better paint, even after 10+ years of use.

I don't really see a problem with the glove box. IMO, get a tote and stick it in the back of the truck for more cargo space. I keep mine under a tonneau cover, but would like to upgrade to a shell.

I'm not talking about thickness of the paint/clear-coat and "chipability," but rather the quality. There is orange peel all over the truck - a result of using water-based paints vs. (quality, more expensive) oil-based paints. Toyota isn't the only one doing this - most manufacturers are cutting costs in this department, whereas 10 years ago there were still plenty of quality paint jobs.

i have had my truck for over a year and opened the glove box once. IMO the pisser is the console box lid that only opens to the straight up position. sitting in the drivers seat trying to access the box with the lid in the way and having to contort my elbow is my bitch. 2nd gens opened toward the passenger side was much better.
