Phone always in pocket because of distracted driving laws. I never keep my telephone within reach while operating a vehicle. Used a Bluetooth headset before this truck - Google does turn-by-turn so it wasn't an issue.

I use the really thin opening right above the screen... the manual calls it a CD player although I have no idea what that's used for.:bananadance:

i used a magnetic adhesive mount right above the 4 wheel drive control knob, just to the left of the hazard lights. it blocks the 4x4 control but im not gonna be using that most of the time. i wanted it somewhere lower, but not too low. but i also didn't want it on the right side of the stereo either. only place i could think of.

    ...stuff
the year 2005 called, they want their phone cradles back.

is there any reason to keep your phone out anymore? I mean... blue tooth handles your calls... navigation... even text to speech/speech to text can all be done with your phone in your pocket or cupholder.

My truck came with a purpose-made spot for my phone.

    So it goes there.

Right on the qi charging pad

I second the panavise HVAC controls mount. Was a super simple install and its in the perfect spot for me. You can have your GPS up on it if you need it, or just have it as a convenient charging holder

Huge fan of the Ram Mount X-Grip, but not yet sure where it's going once I get my Taco... probably directly above the head-unit.

Yeah, but only if you have an iPhone Plus or a Galaxy Note... Are the cup holders nomex lined for the Note?

I am a fan of the vent style mounts. I don't need to have air constantly blowing at me, so blocking a vent has never been a bother.

Anyone have success with these in a 3rd gen taco? I've been in some vehicles were it's not even an option because of vent arrangement and design.

I use an adhesive type mount. It's fairly low profile, and I'm not a fan of the arm-mount contraptions that look like something off of the int'l space station. Got it at Best Buy for around $20. Here's a picture of just the mount, then one with my phone case (it has magnetic sticker on the back). I really like it, flows with the dash well, easy to see and not an obnoxious distraction.

Works pretty well. If you turn the base, it expands to sit firmly in the cup holder. Don't like the adhesive or windshield mounts. I'd like to find something that mounts to the dash that's more of a permanent mount. Couldn't find any for a 3rd Gen. Panavise has one for the 2nd gen.
