You guys are talking about a regular punch right? Just like a solid metal cylinder? I don't see how that punches through something that thick..

The metal rib isn't that thick. Give it whack or 3 and you're money

Yours looks lower profile than the rest of the pictures. Did you grind the spacers down?

No, the aluminum spacers sit on the mounting holes. So it might just look lower than it actually is..

Does anyone have an insight on what Toyota uses as sealant when they attach the factory racks? Must work well. Will be placing my order Tuesday but worried about the roof leaking in my new truck.

I thought the rack used the existing mount points and you didn't have to drill through the roof? Did I read the install instructions incorrectly?

You read correctly. People still have problems with water getting into the existing holes. Silicone is recommended but I was just over on the FJ forum reading about how it will only last a couple years and then will start to leak. Looking for a permanent solution. Wish the threads were closed off from underneath.

You could do this yourself by dropping the headliner correct?

The FJs have a history of leaking even with the factory roof racks. I have never had any leaking at all on my tacoma rack. Even with now weather stripping and no silicone.

MT stuff, RTT stuff, the usual.
As someone who used a drill bit: punch is the way to go.

    Ok everyone...
Looking on info for specific hardware to use with the cross bars. They're not a true t-slot so those don't work. Carriage bolts work at 1/4-20 but any info on NUTS that work with the bars?
I'm specifically looking for lightbar installs (details) done with the wind screen cutout.
I know the info is here but at 280+ pages and I can't remember where it's at.
PS I love this rack!!!! Thank you @zscott

Sorry it took me so long to post pics! Here you guys go. I just used the stock brackets, slid a screw in the profile and used a lock washer, fender washer and nut.

Rode up to Boston over the weekend to pick this up and install it.

Then I took the cargo baskets off when I got home since I don't need them right now and it sounded like I had a trumpet player on the roof on the way home.
