Started to replace the shifter bushing last night. From everything I've read its a super easy and quick job. Got it tore apart, old one out, cap on shifter replaced. But could not get the new bushing to fit in the hole. Its the white one from Marlin Crawler, matches in size to the old one, but I could not get it to go past the 2 pins that hold the spring cap on. The old one is rubbery and was no problem to pull out and put back in, but the new one is hard and has no play to bend in past pins.

Am I doing something wrong? or is there a trick to getting them in?

Also, I read somewhere the rubber seal under it should be replaced but the new bushing didn't come with one. Should it be replaced also?

I recently replaced mine as well. Sorry cannot remember what I did to get it in but I do know you do not need that extra rubber seal as the marlin one is designed to be used without it.

I had the same problem. It took some fiddling - like a chinese puzzle. Seems like I put it on upside down and spun it around. Something like that. More trouble, the new one was too thick and I couldn't get the shifter back in. I had to sand it a little thinner.

Maybe if I take the extra seal out it will help it go in easier.

I tried it several ways, but not upside down. Didn't think there would be enough room to get it past the pins and still spin. Ill have to try it that way next. Thanks

Getting the shifter seat in was easy. But I remember damn near breaking out into tears trying to reseat the shifter itself. Something to do with a spring(?) IIRC

Eventually got it back in but thought, "never again" immediately after.

Yeah I was worried about getting it back in. Things normally come apart much easier than going back together for me. But I didn't have a bit of trouble getting it to lock back in place.
