Trust but verify. That's our motto in the Navy. Sucks that that happened to you.

So i got my new switch and relay installed lat night. I might be crazy but the lights seem alot brighter with the relay. Is that possible or am i imagining things?

Yep. The hoist gets it up and down but when the tent is up, it's being supported by a chain on each corner. That's going to be the side of the garage my wife parks on and she'd kill me if the tent fell on her BMW!

It's possible. If you were running straight through the switch previously, there's a lot of resistance created. Running a relay provides a much better path for accessory power.

Nice setup man! I wish I had your garage height! I just did a almost the same thing is weekend for my FJ40 Top, weights about 200Lbs, Plan on using it to pick my cage off and soon to own RTT.

I used https://amzn.com/B0009I8AO6 off Amazon. Seems to work well lifted it right off no issues.
Only thing i suggest if anyone else goes this way is when you get the kit go rebuy all the bolts and screws. The ones they send are kinda shitty.

If the wiring through the relay is a higher gauge (smaller number) then there is less loss across the wire so the lights can be brighter. Not the signal side of the relay, but the power side or switched side.

@UssMoGn yeah, the 12ft ceilings are really nice. I may look into that lift for additional storage in my garage.

I wanted something extremely secure which is why we built it the way we did. There are 8 lag bolts in each 2x8. I'm pretty sure my setup could easily hold over 1,000 lbs.

Yeah this one can only do 250lbs, Ive got a steel framed house so i had to use Wing anchors into metal C channel. but there are 10 on each side. Little over kill if you ask me. I think the weakness with this kit is the pulley systems on the ends and the center axle, The metal is a thin. The end bars are NOT coming off the roof lol. But i knew going into it that only needed like 200lbs lifted. Its a cool little lift, comes with a Hand crank or a Drill attachment.

Yup, I dont plan on major hauling on it. If I ever wheel hard
The drivers side is a tie down, the passenger side is meant for pulling

What's your guess on the shake? I have time this weekend to get the wheels off the ground. I was going to check the ball joints and tie rods.

Yup, I dont plan on major hauling on it. If I ever wheel hard I'll upgrade it. Figure its better than the welded hoop
