Might as well delete it for him. It's not even an official thread until @ChadsPride arrives.

I have nothing nice to say, so I won't say it at all...... but just some advice, the bed holds your pails or buckets of sugar, alcoholic, and caffeinated drinks easily and contains spills well along with easy hose cleanup. If it's just a Nalgene bottle, buy the smaller size. Refuse a great $35k truck over a stupid $7 resized bottle? I bet the dealer would have gone out and gotten you a properly sized BPA free bottle to sell you the truck if this is your main gripe!

I realized this this past weekend. Bigger Gatorade bottles don't fit. It does fit a 16oz beer though.

To the OPs credit I used to drag my Nalgene around all the time. But I mounted a bottle opener on my dashboard and clipped a carabiner to the loop and hung it there...

Man you gotta wade through a lot of crap to find out nobody has anything good on this. Actually, I work for the company that makes Nalgene and those bottles-yes it's an American company that has lot's of good paying jobs. Anyway, due to that employment, I get these things at half off so I have like a million of the 1 liters and the fact that they don't fit I think is a negative. If there is a solution to widen the cup holder, I would like to know. Otherwise, I think I'm going to buy an assortment of these: http://www.nalgene.com/product/682009-0572/ since they are 3/4" narrower in diameter. But hey, I get half off so it's no real skin off my nose either way. Good luck!

Toyota may not sell direct...but, I work here at Washington Dulles International Airport for the government and...last week Aeroflot transported 2 brand new 2016 decked out Tacoma's to Russia for some mob guy...How do I know, because we have been tracking his last purchase of a Corvette and a Lamborghini...so....Boris and Natasha are still trying to kill moose and squirrel...

2017 Cup Holders too small...just remember, its not how big it is, but what you do with it...if it fits a can of beer you're golden...

Every solution doesn't work for everyone unfortunately. That said, this made me think of the three amigos which is great.

I guess they never thought to put the sports bottle on the passenger seat?

BTW, what is a diagonal diameter?

My wife is always riding shotgun and has her own Nalgene-sized water bottle as well. It's a nice thing to do to not just toss my bottle at her.

The cup holders are typically round, so the distance from one side to the other is the diameter, but as these have the squared sides, I referred to the corner-to-corner as the diagonal diameter. Not 100% accurate, if we're being pedantic (being pedantic on TW?! Never!), but it helps to illustrate the idea, I think.
If you're measuring corner-to-corner, diagonally (giving you the round-equivalent diameter), the cup holder is a bit larger potentially.
Since the sides have been squared, you're losing about a quarter of the area (not perfectly square) compared to if it were round - think square inside a circle.

Since the plastic cupholders in the Tacoma aren't painted (MIC - "mold in color") and they're thermoplastic, my plan is to pop out the lower center console holders and gently heat the plastic and mold a larger bottle in to stretch the squared sides into a round shape. Obviously I'll post results when I get around to it.

Here is a thought, instead of car manufacturers making the cup holders bigger, wouldn't it be easier if you mentioned to your boss they could make the base of the bottle cup holder size and still have the larger upper portion.

Well that was a fun read.

TL;DR -- Cup holder doesn't fit his cup. Nalgene makes smaller cups. @ChadsPride isn't liking posts yet.
