I have had the 265/70/16 ltx ms2's for about 17000 miles and they only have lost about 1/16" tread as compared to my mom's brand new defender ltx ms. These tires have performed very well in conditions similar to what you'll face in nw kentucky, especially snow I do regret getting the e rated tires as they are heavy and more expensive. My next set will be the 4 ply defender ltxms lol

    I appreciate the input!
So, you're saying the defender ltx ms would be better suited?

I have the Defender LTX. They are VERY good quality. They ride excellent, wear is practically non existent 20k miles later, and really decent traction in many conditions. Night and day over the stock garbage.

Ya they're great tires. No regrets except maybe the price and they don't look as rad as
AT tires....function over form lol. The 4 ply's are significantly cheaper especially if u get them at theDiscount tire direct/eBay sale that ends today. I don't seriously off road much so the 10 ply's were prolly overkill in my case.
The great wear resistance is defeating high initial price for now tho lol

I find that real hard to believe! Are they GrandTrek? And what's the wear rating?

My, I assume, factory tires are Dunlop GrandTrek 245/75/16 with tread wear/traction of 300/B (these figures are probably backwards but you get it)
I only have 31k miles on a 2014 truck, that's not acceptable IMO. But I do drive like I have somewhere to be, because that's why cars were invented and we don't ride horses regularly.

+1 You have to bite the bullet with these, but is worth it. Best tires i have ever owned and unless i decide to start off roading, will be the only tire i buy. With my current wear/miles, i expect to get at least 60,000 miles and im not talking bald. Im only throwing numbers out here so you'll have to get some real world mileage experiences. I paid 175/tire, and should get at least 60,000 miles. 342 miles per dollar. Lets say you buy a $125 tire and go 40,000 miles, 320 miles per dollar spent. To me the kicker is you are getting a great tire over that entire 60,000 miles, dry, wet, snow. I've been through many tires and thats been my experience. your results may differ.

one of the best aspects of any Michelin LTX tire is that it makes the truck more enjoyable to drive because of the smooth handling and car like ride and lane changing

You all have been a big help, and I know you get what you pay for. Plenty to ponder, for sure.

And as bad as I tell myself a wider tire would be better in all ways, except gas mileage, I will go with factory size probably. I get roughly 20mpg or 400mi/tank and while that isn't great, I don't want to lose a great deal of that since it's a 4cyl.

you best get the Michelin LT2 from BJs Wholesale or SAMS club,COSTCO. the LT2 is basically the MS2 tire made for the big box stores you can save a few dollars, plus you get free lifetime rotations and balances,repair/replace, I got quote for the LT2 p245/75/16 for $659.07 that's everything.

My tires are easily worn that much if not worse. Oil change revealed 4/32 depth on all 4 at 30k miles. You must live in a place with the best roads in the country, I don't think those tires are even warrantied over 40k miles. Kudos to getting the most out of em!

55mph. My view everyday. Pretty much strait all the way. Never seen a gravel road. I rotate often and pay attention to them. Keep an eye on air pressure.

Most mom n pop places here offer same perks with tire purchase too. That's still a little steep, unless Uncle Sam is really feeling generous this year which I doubt.
Btw, I only find a X Radial LT2 tire. The LTX A2 looks to be a good tire if I can find them when I'm ready to buy for a little better price.

yes the x radial lt2 is exactly the same as the MS2, I had the Michelin AT2 on my GEN1 v6 and they were better than awesome and the ride was smooth as silk onroad, but the AT2 in p245/75/16 weigh in at 37pounds so you might take a 1-2mpg hit at the pump, maybe

Yeah, I want to stay under 40lbs/tire I think. Seems like a huge kick in the tank if I go above that. Already get terrible mileage for a 4 banger IMO. with bald ass tires.
